IT Home On April 27, it was reported that a user found that an 8KB "Microsoft Copilot" application was automatically installed after the system was updated. Microsoft later confirmed that this was actually a bug.
Microsoft officially said that the Edge Browser (123.0.2420.65) update released after March 28 may incorrectly install a software package (MSIX) called "Microsoft chat provider for Copilot in Windows" on Windows devices, but this program will not execute any code or process, nor will it acquire, analyze or transmit device and environment data.
At present, Microsoft's latest stable version of 124.0.2478.67 has fixed this bug. After the update, the device will automatically delete the "Microsoft chat provider for Copilot in Windows" program from the list of installed applications.
It is worth mentioning that this update only seems to affect the Windows Server system. Microsoft said that the problem of the consumer version of Windows will be solved for some time. IT home note, this bug affects Win11 Each version and Win10 22H2
