Hi Support – I received an email that appeared to be from Askimet.com about an expiring credit card on my account. The credit card information displayed in the email was correct, so the email looked legitimate.

When I clicked the Keep my Subscription link in the email, I was taken to what looked like an Askimet login page on wordpress. There was an option to click another link that was just a number (appearing to be an account number). I selected that link and was taken to a web page in Arabic.

Is this a fraud email? If not, it appears to be, and if it is perhaps you can post about it, to better secure your site on wordpress?

  • Hi there, @sanostec .

That sounds very sketchy… Some of it makes sense (Akismet email, WordPress.com login, etc), but the “option to click another link that was just a number” part doesn’t ring a bell.

I did find what appears to be your account on our end, and I do see that you added a new card yesterday, so it seems that the email was legitimate, but we’d love to hear more about the rest of the experience, as it sounds far from being user-friendly.

If you’re so inclined, we’d appreciate if you could reach out to our support via https://akismet.com/contact/ , so we can look into the details of your inquiry.
