Futian: Winter sports event, EOS R3 records every moment

As a photographer, I was lucky to participate in the shooting of the 14th Winter Games, which was an unforgettable experience in my career. In the whole event, I used Canon EOS R3 Camera, its high-performance performance gives me a new understanding of photography.

First of all, I was deeply impressed by the stability and reliability of EOS R3. As a high-speed model of Canon, EOS R3 performs very well in low temperature and harsh environment. In the snow project, we need to wear heavy cold proof clothes and carry shooting equipment to climb mountains on foot, while the lightweight body of EOS R3 greatly reduces our burden at this time. Each reduction in weight will make us feel more relaxed in the hard shooting process.

In terms of lens selection, I carried three R3 bodies, which were equipped with RF15-35mm F2.8 L IS USM, RF70-200mmF2.8 L ISUSM and RF400mm F2.8 L IS USM lenses, respectively, to cover all the projects in my charge of the Zhalantun competition area. This lens combination allows me to flexibly respond to various shooting scenes and capture the wonderful moments of athletes.

In the shooting process, the EOS R3's focusing and character recognition tracking focusing functions played a huge role in shooting big jump and aerial skills and other projects. In these events, athletes suddenly enter the picture at a very fast speed, while R3's person tracking and focusing mode can quickly capture people and complete accurate focusing, greatly improving the shooting success rate.

In addition, the high-speed continuous shooting function of EOS R3 also enables me to capture the details of snowflakes splashing after the athletes take off, presenting a more vivid picture for the audience. In addition, the high tolerance of EOS R3 provides great help in the shooting environment of backlight and high light ratio between the shade and the sun of the game field. It can accurately capture the details of the athlete's face in the shadow, while avoiding overexposure of snowflakes in the background. Such performance enables me to better show the athletes' demeanor in the competition. It is worth mentioning that the EOS R3's character recognition tracking and focusing function greatly reduces the error rate. At the same time, Canon's event news center CPS service can also quickly solve the problem of dirty camera sensor, which provides guarantee for my work.

In addition, the high-speed data transmission function of EOS R3 also provides convenience for me. adopt FTP Or Canon APP, I can quickly send the pictures taken back to Beijing for editors to deal with. This not only saves physical strength, but also enables me to focus more on creation and improve work efficiency.

Looking forward to the future, I believe that EOS R3 will continue to accompany me in various competitions and provide me with a stable and reliable shooting experience. I also look forward to presenting more wonderful moments to the audience through my lens, so as to jointly feel the charm of sports and the fighting spirit of athletes.

Eye control focusing, use eyes to convey shooting intention

Canon's first camera equipped with eye control focusing function in the focusing system was the film SLR camera EOS 5 launched in 1992. At that time, the auto focus system that can detect the camera's line of sight and thus determine the focus position was very rare. Now, based on powerful image processing technology and high-speed processing performance, combined with the flexible display of the electronic viewfinder, Canon has once again imported eye control focusing into EOS R3.

As long as the photographer gazes at the subject, the camera can focus on it. The second generation full pixel dual core CMOS AF has high-precision phase difference detection and automatic focusing, which can achieve high-performance tracking with the high-performance object detection capability of EOS iTR AF X (intelligent tracking and recognition).

An Lingjun: A competitive feast in the world of ice and snow, EOSR3 helped to shoot the Winter Games

I was responsible for the snow project in Zhalantun competition area for the shooting of the 14th Winter Games. This experience is a new challenge for me, and also a valuable experience accumulation. During the whole event, I used Canon's EOS R3 camera throughout the event. Its high-performance performance gave me a new understanding of photography.

Every day, I have to put on crampons and carry heavy photographic equipment to climb on the steep snow track to find the ideal shooting position. In the process, I deeply felt Canon EOS R 3's lightweight fuselage design has brought me great convenience. Compared with the camera used in the past, the weight of R3 is much reduced, which makes it easier for me to climb on the ski trail and save energy for shooting. R3 can provide excellent stability and reliability whether you are shooting by hand or composing stably on the snow.

Of course, in the low temperature environment, EOS R3 performs well, focusing and shutter release respond quickly, and R3 can accurately capture both athletes in high-speed taxiing and wonderful moments when suddenly jumping into the line of sight, providing me with a stable and reliable shooting experience. At the same time, I am very satisfied with its battery life. In the low temperature environment, a fully charged battery can meet my shooting task for half a day without frequent replacement of the backup battery, which facilitates my work and enables me to devote myself to shooting without worrying about equipment problems.

During shooting, I was deeply impressed by EOS R3's eye control focusing function. Although I wear glasses and it is inconvenient to use them, I can still feel their advancement and convenience. This function can automatically adjust the focus according to my line of sight, so that I can focus more on shooting without worrying about the accuracy of focus.

The challenge of shooting in winter is not only from the low temperature and complex environmental conditions, but also from the safety requirements of the photographer himself. The EOS R3 performs well under these conditions. Canon EOS R3 can operate stably in the face of biting cold wind or on steep snow tracks, providing reliable guarantee for me. Driven by technological progress, the camera in the hands of photographers has been able to operate stably at low temperatures. Photographers need to pay more attention to their own safety and choose appropriate equipment to ensure smooth shooting.

Through the shooting of the Winter Games, I have a new understanding of photography, and I feel deeply the convenience brought to photographers by the development of science and technology. As a high-performance camera, EOSR3 has undoubtedly become my right-hand man in photography. I believe that with the help of EOS R3, I can better record the wonderful moments at the Winter Games and present the charm of winter sports and the fighting spirit of athletes to the audience.

Jiang Fan: EOS R3 actual combat diary, revealing behind the wonderful moments of the National Winter Games

From February 14 to 27, I brought three Canon cameras to Hailar to take part in the shooting of the 14th National Winter Games (hereinafter referred to as "the 14th Winter"). They are EOS R3, EOS-1D X Mark lll and EOS R5. I got this EOS R3 on January 31, and I was not familiar with it before. But it turns out that, despite the full box of equipment, all my shots were finally completed with EOS R3.

Different from daily news reports, sports photography has more stringent requirements on the lightness, speed, stability and durability of cameras. In order to be fast, stable and long lasting, it is customary to choose the "block machine". As far as Canon is concerned, it is currently the EOS R3 and EOS-1D X Mark lll models. The appearance of these two products follows the consistent design concept of Canon, and they basically come down in one continuous line. In terms of weight, the EOS-1D X Mark lll weighs 1250 grams (excluding batteries and memory cards), while the EOS R3 is only 822 grams. The weight difference of 428 grams is not a small number in long-term operation! Therefore, R3 has obvious advantages in weight.

In the "14th Winter", I mainly participated in the shooting of the opening ceremony, curling open group competition and speed skating youth group competition. During the shooting of the opening ceremony and the subsequent competition, I chose to use the RF100-300mm F2.8 L IS USM lens. Thanks to the EOS R3's excellent 8-level anti shake, high sensitivity and tolerance, auto focus performance and continuous shooting speed, I took satisfactory pictures.

During the shooting of the opening ceremony, the advantages of EOS R3's high sense and tolerance were brought into full play. Due to the complex lighting conditions and low overall illumination of the opening ceremony, the shooting and transmitting publishing method requires that the picture size be controlled below 5M. If the high sensitivity and tolerance are not enough, the picture quality will be in a mess. In fact, with the help of the RF100-300mmF2.8 L IS USM lens, I used the ISO AUTO mode, and the maximum sensitivity was only 1250. The noise reduction function of the fuselage was perfect, and the noise could not be seen with the naked eye.

In the subsequent match shooting, I changed another RF100-500mm F4.5-7.1 L IS USM. When shooting high-speed moving pictures, I always didn't trust the non constant aperture lens, so I was ready to use EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM as the main lens, and I also brought an EF 600mm f/4L IS III USM for standby. But after trial shooting, I found that with the blessing of EOSR3, this lens is fully competent for shooting tasks. Its internal logic is that since it can focus accurately under the condition of high-speed continuous shooting, high sensitivity and good tolerance, and noise control is completely acceptable, "aperture anxiety" will not be a problem. At this time, the ultra large zoom range of 100-500mm focal section has great advantages. The 500mm end can capture the details in the distance, the 100mm end can easily cover the near panorama, and the lightweight lens also makes shooting easy.

In the shooting of the speed skating youth group competition, the safe shooting method is to shoot at the top of the straight track, so it is easy to catch wonderful pictures, but the disadvantage is that the pictures are monotonous and lack of tension. If the arc top position is selected to shoot the image of the athletes crossing the curve, the effective shooting time is only about 1 second each time. If you can't keep up with it, it will be totally wasted, and the risk is relatively high. But after being familiar with the use of EOS R3, I often choose to use it at the arc top. In actual operation, more than 20 consecutive shots can be taken each time an athlete turns a corner, from which you can select wonderful pictures. This gave me great confidence. I dared to shoot at the arc top even in the 500m final, which was only 1.25 laps away. On the curling field, I even tried the combination of EOSR3+RF800mm F11 IS STM, and the pictures taken were enough for publishing.

In the shooting of the opening ceremony, I used the slow shutter to take some pictures of the artistic performances, and the results were good; In the curling and speed skating competitions, the use of slow shutter also adds rhythm and interest to the game picture. At the opening ceremony, I used M gear, with aperture 22 and speed of 1/8 seconds to shoot, which produced a brilliant effect of artistic performance; In speed skating and curling competitions, I use TV gear, and use 1/80 second or even slower speed to highlight the feeling of movement.

In addition, the EOS R3's high-speed data transmission capability and eye control focusing function also impressed me deeply.

Through the shooting work of the "14th Winter" held in Hailar, I deeply realized the powerful performance and superiority of Canon EOS R3. Although I was not familiar with it at first, the EOS R3, with its lightweight weight, excellent 8-level anti shake, high sensitivity and tolerance, auto focus performance and continuous shooting speed, allows me to easily cope with various shooting scenes and needs. Whether in the opening ceremony, curling open group competition or speed skating youth group competition, EOS R3 has performed well, helping me capture many wonderful moments and giving me a higher evaluation of its performance and potential. I believe that Canon EOS R3 will become an important shooting tool for me to capture more wonderful moments in the future news reporting and photography work.

Improve the ability to identify players in winter competitive events through in-depth learning

The EOS iTR AF X of EOS R3 has learned a lot of sports competition samples and improved the detection ability on the basis of the original person detection algorithm for recognizing eyes, face, head and body. For example, the head detection algorithm improves the detection power when the face of skiers such as snowboarders is blocked by helmets or goggles.
