Every child is a seed full of hope

In 2023, I became a volunteer of the Western Plan, came to Baokang No.3 Middle School in Horqin Left Wing Middle Banner, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and became a math teacher for 47 children. My students are all rural children, most of whom are left behind children. They lack care and guidance to a certain extent. Some children are not confident, or lack of learning habits, and some children can't even write well. I found that when they were living in the countryside, they had boundless beautiful reverie about the world and life. Compared with "math teacher", children prefer to call me "teacher Liu". In their eyes, I bring them not only math knowledge, but also spring flowers, summer rain, autumn leaves, winter snow. It is full of stars, warm wind by the lake, and beautiful things that can satisfy all their curiosity.

I firmly believe that "every child is a seed full of hope". In math class, I use vivid, interesting and easy to understand cases to introduce complex knowledge and guide children to connect math with life. "The meaning of positive and negative numbers can be connected with Beijing subway!" The children are now more familiar with Beijing subway lines than I am. When explaining difficult problems, I use the method of "situational deduction" to deepen my understanding of the topic, such as the journey of the unary linear equation and the encounter problem. I will let the children "act out" the topic in the classroom, and the children suddenly realize that "the original mathematical knowledge can jump out of the textbook!". In my spare time, I carried out the "interesting mathematics" teaching, such as the "seven bridge problem" small game, the "cube expansion" small manual, and the "Gauss sum" handshake small experiment. Now, the students with poor learning foundation in the class can listen carefully and happily, which is my most gratifying thing!

"The moss flower is as small as rice, and the peony blooms" is a poem I often read to children. "The seeds abandoned by fate sprouted desperately, and moss flowers, although small, quietly bloomed in a dark place." Lack of self-confidence is a common problem for children. Therefore, I will "encourage teaching" to the end. I encourage children to answer questions in class by means of "reward coupons", guide children to give encouragement to students who work on the blackboard on the platform by applause, and patiently write encouraging words on each student's homework. Now, math has become the dominant lesson for children, and they have become their own little teachers!

A girl who was not confident expressed her wish to be a math class representative by letter. I gave her this opportunity. Now, she can teach math problems to her classmates on the blackboard. A little boy once cried to me and said, "Teacher, am I too stupid to do the wrong thing all the time?"! "Teacher, I also want to be admitted to Beijing University of Chemical Technology", which makes me feel that all efforts are worth it!

Liu Shiao awarded certificates to students with outstanding performance.

In addition to teaching, I also used the flag raising ceremony and class meetings to guide children to love their motherland and stimulate their enthusiasm and motivation for learning. On the anniversary of the September 18th Incident, I delivered a keynote speech of "Remembering the History and Remembering the Alarm"; On the National Memorial Day, I used film and television to let children know that today's happiness is hard won. Using the school's "second classroom", I set up a "fun psychology" class. Through psychological games, children can learn simple psychological knowledge and relieve the pressure of intense learning. One morning, an early student came to me in the office and said, "Teacher, can I talk to you from the bottom of my heart?" It turned out that he had a small problem in learning and interpersonal relations. I patiently answered his doubts and gave him suggestions. After that, more and more students came to my office to talk about their troubles. Looking at the smiling faces of the children, my heart is very warm!

Yes! Every child is a seed full of hope! They are shining brightly and full of hope on the prairie! Our story continues until one seed sprouts and thrives
