Since the implementation of the college student volunteer service rural revitalization plan in Jiangxi Province in 2023, 16 college student volunteers have practiced the concept of volunteer service in various service posts in the newly-built district of Nanchang City. They have rooted their youth and dreams at the grassroots level, committed to their mission with youth, fulfilled their vows with action, and started the "two-way rush" of youth and volunteerism. Yang Wenqing is one of these volunteers.
"I am willing to become a glorious young volunteer, do my best to help others and serve the society without pay..." On the morning of July 26, 2023, accompanied by the passionate oath, Yang Wenqing became a volunteer of Jiangxi University students serving the rural revitalization plan.
As a newcomer to the service place (Huangxi Management Office in the new district), Yang Wenqing can only do the simplest work in the office because he is not familiar with the environment. In these simple document processing, he gradually learned about the work of the Management Office. With the help of everyone, Yang Wenqing gradually lost his college students' inexperience and actively integrated into the big family of the service unit in the harmonious coexistence with his colleagues.
It has gradually become Yang Wenqing's daily work to visit the countryside with the department head and go to the surrounding communities for propaganda and condolences. During field visits and face-to-face communication with residents, he deeply felt the value and mission of young volunteers serving the grassroots.
During this period, Yang Wenqing participated in the allocation of resettlement housing in Lutian Village. From the initial preparation stage to the final successful housing distribution, he has accumulated a lot of valuable grass-roots work experience in the communication with the villagers.
In the second half of 2023, Huangxi Management Office received a notice to carry out investigation on abandoned land. Yang Wenqing accepted the task of being an information officer of abandoned land screening, and assisted the inspectors of each village in the field screening, review and reporting of abandoned land. During his work, Yang Wenqing participated in work training with the inspectors from all villages and towns to exchange their learning experiences. There are many spots on the barren map, the location is difficult to find, and the software operation is unstable. These objective problems cannot stop them from completing the troubleshooting. "I saw great enthusiasm and the spirit of overcoming difficulties and helping each other in these grassroots cadres." These spirits deeply inspired Yang Wenqing.
In the twinkling of an eye, it has been more than half a year since I came to the service unit. Collecting and writing materials, visiting the countryside, meeting and training and other grass-roots work have constantly expanded Yang Wenqing's breadth and depth of work, and also made the more than half a year's time rich and colorful.
"When I first came here, I thought it was a cool thing to do volunteer work at the grass-roots level, but now I have a deeper understanding of this. Volunteers for rural revitalization are the most everyday things to do well at the grass-roots level." Yang Wenqing said. (Reporter Li Yanlong)
