With the theme of "gathering bio pharmaceutical industry and promoting innovation and development of Xi'an", the participants jointly discussed the characteristics of Xi'an's bio pharmaceutical "industry university research" combination and the development environment of Xi'an's bio pharmaceutical industry with concentrated factors.

At the meeting, Professor Qian Airong, Vice Dean of School of Life of Northwestern Polytechnical University, and Dr. Brian Corbett and Professor Michael Stcliffe of Cambridge University, UK, respectively made speeches around the theme of "Xi'an Biomedical Industry Environment and Industry University Research Development" and the development opportunities for the biomedical industry brought by the current global epidemic, and relevant development zones made investment promotion, The Talent Department of the Organization Department of the Xi'an Municipal Party Committee introduced the preferential policies for employees of the biomedical industry to settle in Xi'an.
The reporter learned that there are 2758 biomedical production and R&D enterprises in Xi'an, including 141 national high-tech enterprises, 4 top 100 pharmaceutical enterprises, 2 listed enterprises, and 8 new three board listed enterprises. Xi'an High tech Zone is the core area for the development of Xi'an bio pharmaceutical industry, gathering more than 400 bio pharmaceutical enterprises, of which 24 have sales of more than 100 million yuan.
During the discussion and exchange at the meeting, the participants agreed that Xi'an has formed a development pattern of bio pharmaceutical industry based on chemical medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, biological medicine, medical equipment industry, with Xixian New Area, High tech Zone, Economic Development Zone and other development zones as the main carriers. Xi'an has many biomedical production and R&D enterprises, strong scientific and educational R&D strength in related fields, and initial industrial cluster benefits. The biomedical industry in Xi'an has a good foundation and huge potential to accelerate innovative development.
As a key competitive industry in Xi'an, in recent years, Xi'an's bio pharmaceutical industry is showing a trend of large-scale development. A chemical and preparation production cluster represented by Lipon Pharmaceutical and Bandung Pharmaceutical, a Chinese patent medicine production cluster represented by Pace Pharmaceuticals and Jinhua Pharmaceutical, a natural plant extraction production cluster represented by Haotian Biology and Jiahe Biology, a gene detection cluster represented by BMG, and a medical device production and sales cluster represented by Tianlong Technology and Jinci Nano have been formed. It also attracted a number of world top 500 biomedical enterprises represented by Johnson&Johnson and Janssen to settle in Xi'an. In 2020, the total output value of Xi'an's bio pharmaceutical industry is expected to reach 50 billion yuan.
To this end, Xi'an has issued a series of supporting policies for the biomedical industry, including the Action Plan for the Development of Xi'an Biomedical Industry Cluster (2020 – 2022), and set up a 100 billion yuan Xi'an Science and Technology Industry Development Fund. Attracting more social capital and financial institutions to invest in hard science and technology industries, including bio pharmaceutical industry, through market-oriented operation will undoubtedly further promote the development of bio pharmaceutical industry and attract more bio pharmaceutical industry related enterprises and talents to settle in Xi'an.
