On the road construction site, bulldozers push the operation on the construction line marked by the surveyor.

At the construction site of the Yuli Qiemo Desert Highway in Xinjiang, workers drove large bulldozers to level sand mountains. At present, the largest sand mountain in the project is excavated, about 70 meters high.

Surveyor Liu Yaojun carried out surveying operations at the highway construction site.

Since the commencement of construction, Yang Yunming, a chef from Sichuan, has been stationed in the camp to provide living security for the workers. The picture shows Yang Yunming watching the workmates taking meals.

Workers have a rest and chat in the barracks. In one corner of the room are small garlic seedlings planted by them. The workers said that the purpose of planting garlic seedlings was to see green plants.

At the road construction site, surveyor Liu Yaojun (former) and assistant Gan Caiyun climbed over a 40 meter high sand dune.

The wind is still blowing in the eastern hinterland of Taklimakan Desert, the second largest mobile desert in the world. The extremely fine sand grains drift with the wind and are everywhere. In the endless yellow sand, a dozen bulldozers lined up in echelon, pushing sand horizontally and vertically to open the road.

This is the construction site of Yuli Qiemo Desert Highway in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Weiqi Desert Highway Project is located in the Tarim Basin between the southern slope of Tianshan Mountains and the northern foot of Altun Mountains in southern Xinjiang. It crosses the hinterland of Taklimakan Desert, known as the "Sea of Death", with a total length of more than 330 kilometers. It is the third highway running through the desert from north to south. It is also the desert highway under construction with the longest mileage, the most widely distributed mobile dunes, the worst construction conditions, frequent severe cold and hot sandstorms, and the most difficult construction in the world.

In the desert yellow sand, a new highway is tenaciously extending forward. A group of road builders, accompanied by sandstorms, fought in the depths of the vast sand sea. According to the Wuwei Highway Package Project Department of CCCC, the Yuli Qiemo Desert Highway has entered the final critical stage, and now the largest sand mountain in the project is being excavated. The sand mountain is about 70 meters high, the sand pushing volume is about 1.2 million cubic meters, and the construction is planned to take about 3 months.

At present, the workers involved in the construction seize the construction period and advance in an orderly manner. To facilitate the construction, the workers set up the camp beside the sand mountain, where they ate and lived in the desert. Materials needed for living and oil needed for mechanical equipment are regularly distributed from outside.
