People's Daily Online, Beijing, April 12 (Chen Yu) According to the website of the Ministry of National Defense, in the afternoon of April 12, Senior Colonel Wu Qian, Director of the Information Bureau of the Ministry of National Defense and spokesman of the Ministry of National Defense, released news on recent military related issues.

A reporter asked: It is reported that the commander of the Taiwan Navy recently visited the US Indo Pacific headquarters in Hawaii and attended relevant activities of the US military. Some critics said that the visit was part of the United States' implementation of the "Joint Island Defense Concept", aimed at coordinating with the Taiwan authorities to confront Chinese military forces within the "first island chain". What's your comment on this?

Wu Qian said that China firmly opposes any form of official exchanges and military ties between the United States and Taiwan, and this position is clear. Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory. Resolving the Taiwan issue is China's internal affairs, which brooks no external interference.

Wu Qian stressed that the so-called "first island chain" is a geopolitical product of the cold war period, and any attempt to contain China is just wishful thinking. China urges the US side to earnestly abide by the one China principle and the provisions of the three Sino US joint communiques, implement its commitment not to support "Taiwan independence", and immediately stop military ties and official exchanges between the US and Taiwan. Tell the DPP authorities that if they are willing to be "chess pieces", they will become "abandoned children". If they want to "seek independence by force", there is only a dead end. For any form of "Taiwan independence" secessionist acts, the PLA will attack them head-on.
