Whether it's "Youth of Rebounding" and "Super Penguin League 2019" launched in July, or the upcoming "This is Dunk 2" and "I want to play basketball", basketball variety shows almost focus on the youth basketball market, and "professionals+stars participation" is also the standard configuration of the festival. Super Penguin League 2019 invited Lai Guanlin, Li Chen, Zheng Kai, Xiao Jingteng, Wang Hedi and other star artists to join as the team leader. The play method of Youth Rebounding is similar. The stars Wang Continental and Huang Minghao will serve as interns and the female star Li Kaixin will serve as the team leader.

The upcoming Slam Dunk 2 and I Want to Play Basketball have similar program forms. As a continuation of Youku's "This is" series, "This is Slam Dunk 2" and "This is Hip Hop" are similar in mode. Select excellent basketball players from all over the country to compete. 24 all star players from CUBA will even compete with ordinary players. In addition to the star lineup, I Want to Play Basketball is aimed at young basketball players, hoping to achieve the goal of "building China's own super basketball star" through the program.

However, although basketball variety shows seem to have fierce competition, most of the previous sports reality shows were difficult to "go out of the loop". In this summer's variety show pattern, this problem still needs to be considered by the producers. The already broadcast "Rebound Youth" and "Super Penguin League 2019" Douban scored 8.0 points and 7.6 points respectively, which is a high reputation compared with the domestic variety show that often scores less than 5 points. However, both programs have been broadcast less than 20 million times in a single episode of Tencent Video, and they are not on the top ten list of popular variety shows.

Film critic Nalan Jingmeng pointed out that finding out who the basketball variety show was made for was the key issue to drive the basketball variety show out of the niche. "In professional sports websites or online communities where fans gather, it can be seen that real fans are not satisfied with these variety shows." In his opinion, variety shows use stars for ratings or clicks, attracting mostly star fans. These viewers don't care about football skills, but only about the performance of their own idols. The production of variety shows should not be in a rush. We should study and judge the audience's needs before "arranging troops".
