Reading scope

The reading room of Beijing Jiaotong University Library has collected all kinds of literature preservation books since its establishment, including A-Z Chinese books (except Class I), Chinese and foreign language reference books, Chinese and foreign language current journals, Chinese and foreign language bound back issues, Chinese newspapers, Chinese and foreign language conference proceedings, etc. arranged according to the Chinese Library Classification. The total volume of literature is more than 600000, which are respectively stored in the first reading room on the second floor, the second reading room on the fourth floor, the first floor intensive library and the mechanical building intensive library in the main campus library.

Short term lending

1. Readers need to borrow their campus all-in-one card (library card issued by the library), and they are not allowed to lend or lend on behalf of others; The consequences caused by subleasing or borrowing on behalf of others shall be borne by the owner of campus all-in-one card and borrowing card.

2. Readers need to go through short-term borrowing and return procedures in each reading room (the borrowed literature must be returned to the lending reading room). Each person is limited to 5 copies each time, Chinese books and Chinese and foreign current publications are limited to 6 hours, and Chinese and foreign overdue publications are limited to 1 week.

Special tips:

(1) The 6-hour borrowing period of Chinese books and current Chinese and foreign publications is excluded from the closing time from 22:00 to 8:00. For example, the borrowed documents from 21:00 to 22:00 should be returned before 13:00 the next day.

(2) It is prohibited to borrow the same volume of literature for a short term.

(3) The books and periodicals borrowed for a short time and the books borrowed from the open shelf library on the third floor are included in the total number of books that readers are allowed to borrow, that is, when the number of books borrowed from the open shelf library is full, the literature in the reading room cannot be borrowed for a short time.

3. Penalty regulations for overdue short-term borrowed books and periodicals: RMB 1.00/volume for each hour of overdue Chinese books and current Chinese and foreign publications, and RMB 1.00/volume for each day of overdue Chinese and foreign publications.

4. The application procedures for short-term borrowing of books and periodicals shall be handled in the reading room, instead of online reservation.

5. After receiving the borrowed literature, please check the book in person for damage, missing pages and circles, and report to the staff in time if any problems are found. Otherwise, I will be responsible for returning the book and deal with it according to the "Provisions on Overdue, Damaged and Lost Books for Readers of Beijing Jiaotong University".

6. The lost and damaged books and periodicals shall be handled in accordance with the "Provisions of Beijing Jiaotong University on Overdue, Damaged and Lost Books for Readers".

Reading rules

1. Books and periodicals in the reading room are available for readers to read in the reading room, and short-term borrowing services are provided. Readers should follow the relevant regulations when borrowing for a short time.

2. The search machine in the reading room is only used by readers to search books, periodicals and databases.

3. Take good care of books and periodicals. Do not circle, annotate, cut or damage them. Once the above situation is found, it shall be handled in accordance with the "Provisions on the Punishment of Readers for Overdue Borrowing, Damage, Loss and Stealing of Books".

4. Readers must take personal books (including books borrowed in the library) and all personal belongings with them when leaving the reading room, and any form of seat occupancy is prohibited.

5. Those who take books and periodicals out of the reading room without going through the borrowing procedures shall be deemed as stealing books, and shall be dealt with in accordance with the Regulations on the Punishment of Readers for Overdue Borrowing, Damage, Loss and Stealing of Books.

6. Readers should consciously keep the reading room clean and quiet. It is forbidden to make noise and talk loudly in the room, spit and throw paper scraps and sundries everywhere in the room, eat any food and meet visitors in the reading room, and answer and call mobile phones in the room.

7. The closed documents shall be put back to the original place, or put on the book cart and reading desk, and the staff shall return them to the shelf.
