Shijiazhuang, people.com.cn, August 26 (Zhao Mingyan) In previous summer vacations, Chen Zehan, in addition to doing his homework, just sat in front of the TV to watch cartoons, or went to relatives' homes to stay for a while. This summer vacation is a little different. A group of brothers and sisters came to his home to help him with his homework, and they also met many new friends.

Chen Zehan is 10 years old and lives in Yumengzhuang Village, Tiankou Town, Renze District, Xingtai City, Hebei Province. His parents work in Hetian, Xinjiang all the year round and have not returned home for two years. Usually, only his 61 year old grandmother Da Jun'e takes care of him. This summer, a group of college volunteers accompanied Chen Zehan to spend a rich and colorful summer vacation.

Hu Yingqi is a member of the volunteer service team. She is currently studying foreign linguistics and applied linguistics at Hebei University and is about to enter the third year of postgraduate. Living in the village since childhood, Hu Yingqi has a better understanding of the situation of the left behind children in the village. How can he bring vitality to the summer life of the left behind children? How to alleviate the psychological pressure of left behind children? How to solve the homework problem that parents are not around and the elderly take care of children? Together with several other college students, Hu Yingqi quickly worked out a set of action plans for children's summer life.

"At that time, I thought that there were more left behind children in the village, and on the other hand, I liked children personally. When I got along with them, I found that they spent less time with their parents and needed more care and care. So I discussed with my peers and decided to do something for the left behind children together." Hu Yingqi and other people's ideas were supported by village cadres, The volunteer activities were carried out smoothly.

English letters, pinyin pronunciation, sports, dancing, painting... once a week, once a half day, irregular home visits. The volunteer team makes every effort to pass on knowledge to every child. "In addition to some knowledge learning, we pay more attention to the mental health of these children. Some children stay with the elderly for a long time. They are introverted and will not get along with their peers. We need to guide and drive them slowly through games, chat and other forms to make them trust us." Use love to build a barrier to protect the minds of left behind children, Hu Yingqi and others were gratified to see the children gradually open their hearts.

In Hu Yingqi's eyes, Chen Zehan is a slightly "naughty" boy. "After getting familiar with him, I will find that he is an interesting little boy. I know that it is not easy for his parents to work outside, so he is very enterprising and knows how to study hard and keep his grades in the middle and upper reaches."

Volunteer service activities not only enrich children's summer life, but also solve parents' worries. "I'm uneducated and can't help my child with his homework. Volunteers come to teach him how to study and play with him. It's much easier for me!" Da Jun'e said about volunteer activities and gave a thumbs up.

"Did you learn well with your brothers and sisters?"

"Very good!"

The simple dialogue between grandparents and grandchildren revealed their deep gratitude to the volunteers. "If you have received higher education, you must actively feedback to the society. We do not expect returns, but only hope that these children can grow up healthily and happily." Hu Yingqi's eyes are full of hope and sparkle.

The voluntary action of Hu Yingqi and others is just a microcosm of the local. Renze District of Xingtai City has taken a series of educational measures to ensure the learning and living needs of children left behind during the summer vacation. It is understood that Renze District adheres to the system of teacher subcontracting students, implements one-on-one assistance and companionship for 349 left behind children, regularly goes to students' homes to talk, and earnestly completes student safety, summer drowning prevention, work guidance, etc. At the same time, make full use of social resources such as the library, labor education practice base, patriotism research base and carry out various activities to enrich students' summer life. In addition, Renze District Juvenile Psychological Counseling Station integrated 52 qualified psychological tutors and volunteers to conduct psychological counseling for students with special mental health needs and establish tracking files.
