Beijing, March 27 (Reporter Chang Qin) The reporter learned from the Ministry of Natural Resources that for the first time, China has completed the determination of 683 urban areas. Based on the data of the third land survey, the total area of 683 cities (urbanization standard statistical area) is 110200 square kilometers. Based on the survey data of land change in 2021, the total area of the urban entity area (actual construction area) of 683 cities with cities is 78000 square kilometers.

On the basis of establishing the system and technical specifications, in 2023, the Ministry of Natural Resources organized 683 cities with cities to comprehensively carry out the urban area determination work by applying the national land survey results, forming the first version of China's urban area vector dataset, realizing the spatialization, quantification and accuracy of urban area scope for the first time, and implementing monitoring Physical examination and assessment provide basic support.

Wang Wei, the second level inspector of the Land and Space Planning Bureau of the Ministry of Natural Resources, said that at present, the results of urban area determination have been applied to land and space monitoring and analysis work such as land and space planning preparation and implementation monitoring, urban space monitoring and physical examination evaluation, urban land price dynamic monitoring, and coastal city land subsidence monitoring, which has promoted the digital transformation of land and space governance. In the future, the Ministry of Natural Resources will strengthen cooperation with relevant departments, continue to promote the application of urban area determination results in natural resource management, economic and social comprehensive statistics and other fields, provide support for the planning and construction of a people centered urban environment that is "suitable for business, living, tourism and entertainment", and help build a "livable, resilient and smart" city.
