Making a good fight against poverty is one of the three major battles proposed at the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. As the organ newspaper of the Party Central Committee, the People's Daily gives full play to the unique advantages of the organ newspaper of the Party Central Committee, makes efforts from various angles, in various forms and through the whole media, deeply publicizes the decisions, arrangements and work requirements of the Central Committee, tells stories about poverty alleviation, talks about poverty alleviation experience, and puts forward poverty alleviation suggestions.

Since 2015, the People's Daily has undertaken the task of providing targeted assistance to Luanping County in Hebei Province and Yucheng County in Henan Province. In April of this year, the People's Daily and the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation launched the collection of targeted poverty alleviation cases of "Great Power Strikes to Win 2020", and received a large number of cases from all over the country. Based on the opinions of reporters' interviews and experts' research and analysis, we presented and promoted some innovative, effective and replicable targeted poverty alleviation cases through new media channels such as the People's Daily client, Give play to the advantages of media integration, mobilize and encourage more people to invest in targeted poverty alleviation.

On behalf of the People's Daily, I put forward three suggestions on how to play the role of news media and further promote targeted poverty alleviation:

First, calibrate the "precision" of poverty alleviation with the "depth" of publicity and implementation of the central spirit.

We will, as always, give full play to the advantages of comments, theories and in-depth reports, timely, comprehensively and accurately interpret the important statements and work requirements of General Secretary Xi Jinping and the Central Committee on poverty alleviation, and promote all regions, departments and units to examine poverty alleviation from a precise perspective, plan poverty alleviation with precise thinking, and promote poverty alleviation with precise measures.

Second, the "determination" to work hard should be united by the "people's hearts" that reflect the wishes of the front-line poverty alleviation workers.

We will officially launch large-scale special interviews and reports on targeted poverty alleviation, report on typical cases of targeted poverty alleviation and targeted poverty alleviation in various regions, and explore more successful experiences that can be copied, referenced and applied, so as to provide information services, intellectual support and public opinion support for targeted poverty alleviation.

Third, turn the "joint force" of the eight parties' support into the "power" of unity.

Targeted poverty alleviation should adhere to social mobilization and pool all forces, form a pattern of broad participation of the whole society in poverty alleviation, and realize the interaction of government, market and society, and the linkage of industry poverty alleviation, special poverty alleviation and social poverty alleviation. Mainstream media have the unique advantages of gathering information, gathering resources, contacting all parties and promoting communication. They can use new technologies and applications to be "information base", "connecting bridge" and "resource pool".
