On February 25, 2021, the National Poverty Alleviation Summary and Commendation Conference was held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. When the name of "Huang Wenxiu" was read out at the meeting, the camera turned to a gray haired old man - Huang Zhongjie, Huang Wenxiu's father. Wearing big red flowers for his daughter, he reddened his eyes and quietly wiped tears.

Huang Wenxiu, born in Baise, Guangxi in 1989, resolutely gave up the job opportunity in big cities after graduation in 2016, returned to his hometown and became a cadre of the Publicity Department of Baise Municipal Party Committee. In March 2018, he actively responded to the call of the organization and served as the first secretary in Baini Village, Xinhua Town, Leye County, Baise City.
In the early morning of June 17, 2019, the mountain road from Baise City to Leye County was flooded by sudden mountain torrents, and Huang Wenxiu was killed at the age of 30.
She was posthumously awarded the titles of "Model of the Times", "National March 8th Red Bannerman", "National Outstanding Communist Party Member", "Most Beautiful Struggler", etc., and was awarded the "National May 1st Labor Medal" and "China Youth May 4th Medal". In 2021, it won the title of "National Model for Poverty Alleviation". On June 29, 2021, the CPC Central Committee decided to award Huang Wenxiu the "July 1 Medal".

A villager once asked Huang Wenxiu, "As a graduate student in a big city, how could you want to work in such a remote rural area?" Huang Wenxiu said, "Baise is my hometown and one of the main battlefields for poverty alleviation in China. As a party member, why don't I come back?"
During his stay in the village, Huang Wenxiu was always on the run. The villagers of Baini Village lived scattered. When she first came here, in order to grasp the details of the poor households in the village in the shortest time, she put away her beautiful skirts, put on sports clothes, visited the poor households in the village one by one, and drew a "distribution map of poor households". She noted the family situation and causes of poverty of each household in her notebook.

Huang Wenxiu, together with the cadres of the "two committees" of the village, led the villagers of Baini Village to plant sugar oranges, anise, fir, etc., develop characteristic industries, and increase the income of the villagers. Through efforts, the planting area of sugar oranges in the village has grown from more than 1000 mu to more than 2000 mu, and the planting area of anise has grown from more than 600 mu to more than 1800 mu. In order to open the market, she has also organized people to learn e-commerce knowledge for many times and established Baini Village e-commerce service station.
After staying in the village for more than one year, Huang Wenxiu led 88 households and 418 people in Baini Village to get rid of poverty. The incidence of poverty in the whole village decreased from 22.88% to 2.71%, and the collective economic income of the village increased by 63800 yuan. Baini Village also won the honorary title of "Rural Civilization" Hongqi Village in Baise in 2018.
"In the past, we relied on the weather to feed, and planting and breeding were also small. After Secretary Wenxiu came, he introduced agricultural technology and found a good market, and everyone was confident." Villager Ban Tongmao, under the careful guidance and leadership of Huang Wenxiu, not only successfully lifted out of poverty, but also became the "leading goose" leading the masses to become rich and well-off. At the same time, inspired by Huang Wenxiu's spirit, Ban Tongmao also submitted an application for joining the Party. "I also want to do my best for the development of the village like Secretary Wenxiu."
In March 2019, when she was stationed in Baini Village for the first anniversary, her car odometer increased by 25000 kilometers. On that day, she wrote a speech: "The Long March in my heart is a happy one year anniversary in the village."

Huang Wenxiu spent the weekend visiting his father who had just finished his second liver cancer operation. Seeing the sudden change of the weather and the torrential rain in Baini Village during that period, she thought about the flood control and flood fighting work in the village and hurried back to Baini Village. Father worried about the danger on the road and wanted to keep her at home for one night. "Just because of the rainstorm, I had to rush back. I was afraid that the village would suffer disaster, so I had to go right away." After telling my father to "take medicine on time", Huang Wenxiu set out to return to the village. No one expected that this was the last sentence she left her father.
Along the way, Huang Wenxiu kept in touch with the cadres of the village party branch and the village committee to inquire about the local rain and disaster situation, especially advised to pay attention to several key villages and immediately organize the masses to prevent and relieve disasters. Recalling the situation that night, Zhou Changzhan, secretary of the village party branch, sobbed several times: "In such a dangerous situation, she was thinking about the disaster in the village..."
Huang Wenxiu wrote in his application for joining the Party: "Only by integrating his personal pursuit into the Party's ideal, can his ideal be more ambitious. If a person wants to live meaningfully and survive worthily, he cannot live for himself alone, but must use his own strength to make contributions to the country, the nation and the society." Huang Wenxiu has always practiced this solemn commitment until the last moment of his life.
On the "whereabouts card of cadres and village teams" in Baini Village, the whereabouts of Huang Wenxiu, the former first secretary of the village, was marked as "asking for leave" today. Ban Zhihua, head of the village committee, explained: "The villagers and village cadres think that she has not left, so they miss her in this special way."
Today, Baini Village is not only connected to cement roads, but also to expressways and secondary roads that benefit Baini Village; The newly built village kindergartens also welcomed the children entering the kindergartens, and the life of the villagers became more promising year by year. It is even more gratifying that Baini Village will shake off poverty by the end of 2020.

Although "Secretary Wenxiu" has gone, her spirit is still continued by her colleagues. As cadres of the Publicity Department of Baise Municipal Party Committee, Yang Jiexing and Huang Xu successively took over the "baton" of Huang Wenxiu, the first secretary in the village, and devoted themselves to the poverty alleviation work in Baini Village. Huang Siwei, a post-90s cadre, is also a young person inspired by Huang Wenxiu's spirit. In March 2021, she became the new cadre in Baini Village
"Wenxiu's life came to an abrupt end when she was in the prime of her life, which was very painful. She stuck to her original mission, practiced a Communist Party member's incomparable loyalty to faith with her life, and deserved the title of 'model of the times'." Lu Yan, a friend of Huang Wenxiu and once the first secretary of Shangmeng Village, Lingyun County, Baise City, Guangxi, said, "She is an example for our young people and will inspire us to take responsibility for the cause of the Party and the people."
