CCTV news: Wang Junjiu learned dance at the age of 12, and won the first prize in Shaanxi Dance Competition at the age of 15. In the following eight years, I learned to dance in Beijing and experienced various "identities". He was the leader of the CCTV Spring Festival Gala for five times, the male star of the Overseas Chinese Town dance drama, and the chief director of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing Magic Festival... He returned to Xi'an in 2013. "The habit of getting up early every day to practice martial arts has not changed for more than ten years." Wang Junjiu said that he should stick to it no matter how talented he is. This is his training manual for singing and dancing life.
Practising Kung Fu desperately and taking the road to dance at the age of 12
At the age of 11, Wang Junjiu fell in love with Michael Jackson and also fell in love with dancing. "My mother supports me to do whatever I want." Wang Junjiu entered Xi'an Art School as he wished to learn folk dance.
"At the age of 12, when I went in and found that I didn't want to learn dance, I would give up." He changed his mind when he saw Huang Doudou, a young dancer,'s "Soul of the Terracotta Warriors". "Chinese dance is very attractive, and it's not easy for me to think of my mother." Finally, he made up his mind to study hard. At the age of 15, she won the first prize in Shaanxi Dance Competition with her solo dance "Memory in Autumn", showing her talent for the first time. In the same year, he was recommended to participate in the eighth "Tao Li Cup" competition. This competition, known as the Oscar of China's dance industry, has never been selected for Shaanxi men's solo dance before. After going to Beijing for one year for training, Wang Junjiu's thought, body, technology and character control have made a qualitative leap and won the award of excellence in the competition. This is also the only "Tao Li Cup" men's solo dance award in Shaanxi.
In addition to self-confidence, Wang Junjiu is more diligent. "I get up at 5:30 every morning to practice Kung Fu, an hour earlier than the collective time, every day." He recalled that other students went out to play in the evening, and he insisted on practicing Kung Fu every night, which has been the case for five years in school. "You must work hard in this field, even if God rewards you with food, you have to practice martial arts." Wang Junjiu practices desperately.
"Identity" changes create new challenges
After graduation, Wang Junjiu went to Beijing and insisted on learning more dance types for 8 years. "My major is folk dance, but I want to develop more physical possibilities." Classical dance, modern dance... He kept learning from teachers in Beijing, creating new opportunities for the next step.
"At that time, I was very tired every day, but I got a lot of results." Wang Junjiu saved energy in his continuous efforts, which made him dazzling all the way. He has successively served as the leader of the Central Ethnic Song and Dance Troupe, starring in the Beijing Overseas Chinese Town dance drama "Jin Ming Dynasty", the national dance drama "Ming An Tu", the modern dance drama "Mei" and other works. On the other hand, he also tried to choreograph to express his inner feelings. For five consecutive years since 2007, he has served as a choreographer and lead dancer in the CCTV Spring Festival Gala. He has been the chief director of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing International Magic Festival for four years since 2009.
"I have been trying to edit and create since 2009." Wang Junjiu asked himself to create at least one new work every month. Classical, folk, modern, contemporary and other dance types are all involved, and try more innovation. There is no other shortcut to success, that is, to "speak" from one work to another.
"Dance" starts the annual award-winning mode
"Every work since 2013 has been compiled and directed by myself." With the maturity of thought, the accumulation of skills and the reflection on life, Wang Junjiu shifted the focus of dance to dance creation. "Choreography can't be learned, it requires instant grasp, especially solo dance, duet dance, and triple dance, which can best test the level of a choreographer." At this time, Wang Junjiu, on the one hand, wrote his own "dance", on the other hand, opened the "learning bully" mode of an annual award.
In the 2014 Singapore "Golden Lion Award", the duet "Orchid Flower" and the solo "Sky" won two top awards in dance category; In the 2016 "Italian Royal International Dance Grand Prix", the solo "Yesterday" won the best director award and performance award of the professional group; In 2017, the dance drama Princess of the Silk Road won the Best Performance Award at the Silk Road International Arts Festival; In 2018, the solo "Life" won the gold medal in the Youth Dance Elite Performance Competition of Dancing China's Dream Six Province
"Only sincere works can arouse the resonance of the audience's thoughts. For example, this year's award-winning" Life "is arranged for my newborn daughter. I think she will be surrounded by the umbilical cord until her birth, the mother's hardship, the father's joy..." His works are not limited to which dance type, more enjoyable, and can be easily woven in various dance types.
Wang Junjiu has been challenging himself. "Persistence is very important, and we should try to use our thoughts and wisdom to figure out how to persist." He always said that there is no end to skill, so "learning from doing what we love" is the right way. (By Chen Li)
