As the Yangtze and Huaihe Rivers are well established, Anhui continues to make important contributions to "securing China's rice bowl". On January 25 this year, Anhui released a news that the grain output will reach a new high in 2023. The grain sown area of the province will reach 110 million mu, and the grain output will reach 83.02 billion jin, stabilizing at more than 80 billion jin for seven consecutive years.

More than 1.4 billion people want to eat, which is China's biggest national condition. On June 27, 2022, General Secretary Xi Jinping wrote back to Xu Congxiang, a large grain grower in Taihe County, Anhui Province, which surprised and moved him.

Xu Congxiang, who has been associated with land and grain for more than 50 years and is known as the "King of Wheat in Anhui", has been devoting himself to agricultural science and technology. In 2010, he led the establishment of agricultural planting cooperatives, and gradually became a local grain grower. He has won the titles of "National Model Worker", "National Grain Planting Pacesetter", and was affectionately called "Grain Planter" by General Secretary Xi Jinping.

Keep in mind the earnest instructions. Over the years, Xu Congxiang has strengthened his confidence in scientific grain planting, and repeatedly set Anhui's per unit yield records for wheat, corn and soybeans. The new agricultural technologies and varieties he led or participated in research and development have been widely promoted in the Huang Huai region, becoming a "magic weapon" for local agricultural efficiency and farmers' income.

With the development of modern agriculture, "facing the loess and facing the sky" has gradually become a thing of the past. In 2018, Xu Xudong, Xu Congxiang's grandson, chose to return to his hometown to grow grain with his grandfather after graduating from university, and became a "new farmer".

In the past few years, the young man who was green and unskillful had dark skin. When it comes to agricultural production, mechanization, computer operation, data analysis, variety testing... Modern agriculture is becoming more and more attractive to young Xu Xudong.

To speed up the research on key seed technologies, vigorously promote agricultural mechanization and intellectualization, Xu Congxiang and his family have been carrying on the inheritance and driving farmers of large and small sizes to grow a variety of grains.
