How does WordPress switch article categories in batches?

If WordPress needs to switch articles between different categories, that is, 100 articles originally belong to category A, but now they need to be classified into category B. There are two different ways to operate this requirement, and Weiss notes are shared one by one.

Slow operation

The normal operation is to check the articles on each page or customize some articles in WordPress background>Articles, "Edit">"Apply", select Category B in the category, and click the "Update" button.

At this time, articles have both A and B classifications. Then manually uncheck A classification one by one.

If there are few articles, it can be solved several times. However, if there are hundreds or thousands of articles, it will take much time and energy to do this, and what we do is repetitive work.

Quick operation

If you don't want to use the slow operation method above, you can try the following method.

WordPress background>Settings>Composing>Default article classification, select B classification (that is, target classification), and save the changes.

Then go to WordPress background>Article>Category, delete Category A, and the article will not be lost. All articles under category A will be automatically summarized into category B.

If there are other articles that need to be reclassified, for example, all articles in category C need to be reclassified to category D.
