About the author:

Xie Danyang
Economist, chair professor of the Department of Economics of the Business School of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, acting dean of the social hub of the Guangzhou campus of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He received his bachelor's degree in mathematics from Wuhan University in 1983 and his doctor's degree in economics from the University of Chicago in 1992.
The former dean of the School of Economics and Management of Wuhan University has served as an economist and senior economist of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), a distinguished professor of Tsinghua University, a member of the Currency Issuance Committee under the Hong Kong Exchange Fund Advisory Committee, and an independent director of BOCOM Schroeder Fund Management Co., Ltd.
At present, academic and social part-time jobs include: members of the review panel of theoretical economics discipline of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, and academic consultants of the Institute of Political Science and Economics of Nanjing Audit University.
