What format is xml? How to open an xml file

What format is XML? XML is an abbreviation of Extensible Markup Language (XML). It is used to mark electronic files to make them have a structural markup language. It can be used to mark data and define data types. It is a source language that allows users to define their own markup language. XML is a subset of Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML), which is very suitable for Web transmission. XML provides a unified way to describe and exchange structured data independent of applications or vendors.

How to open an xml file

The easiest way to open an XML file is to use EXCEL table, or Netscape 6 to open an XML document. You can also right-click to select View Source File. When you open an XML document with Netscape 6, the browser will display the root element and child element with colored code.

The method to open a file in Excel is as follows:

When you open an XML file in Excel, you will be prompted to select one of the following methods to import XML data:

As XML List

The xml file can be opened with Notepad or IE

As read-only workbook

Using the XML Source Task Pane

Open this file as an XML list

When you open an XML source, Excel looks for tags for XML style sheets (XSL). XSL describes how the data is displayed. If the tag exists, Excel prompts and selects, or does not apply a style sheet. If you choose to apply an XSL, the XSL specifies how to present the data. The rest of this section is not applicable to the information in this section.

If there is no XSL tag, the following message is not received:

The specified XML source does not refer to the schema. Excel will create a schema based on the XML source data.

Then Excel imports the data from the XML source. Excel propagates data through multiple rows if the XML data contains elements in duplicate fields. Each row contains a unique dataset. This will result in the XML being displayed as a dataset with large rows and small numbers in Excel.

Open this file as a read-only workbook

When you select to open, please keep this marked XML source document as a read-only workbook. The first marked element uses a title and is placed in cell A1. The remaining tags are sorted alphabetically and placed across the second line. When you open it as a read-only workbook, it will be divided into weather report examples. In the front of this article: column headings, the following list:

/Region/City

/Region/Country

/Region

/Area/Status

/date

Index measurements/h –

/Measurements/humidity

/ measurements / skies

/Measurements/temperature

Index measurements/uv –

/Measurements/Visibility

measurements / wind / direction

measurements / wind / windspeed

/Time

Whether each of these column data is a pair of data is a spreadsheet placed in the third row. Excel propagates data through multiple rows if the XML data contains elements in duplicate fields. Each row contains a unique dataset. This will result in the XML being displayed as a dataset with large rows and small numbers in Excel.

Use the XML source task pane, which displays the XML data file of the schema. You can drag to the worksheet to map these elements to the schema elements of the worksheet.

If you want to open an XML data file that does not reference a schema, Excel infers the XML data file of the schema.
