Unpacking and evaluation of MSI GODLIKE acquisition card (z390 included)

I always wanted to get an acquisition card, otherwise I would have to manually switch the display signal input when playing Switch, which is very troublesome. A few days ago, I saw that there was a collection card attached to the MSI GODLIKE z390 motherboard on the salted fish, so I bought one.

Unpacking

Simply open the box, you can see that the card is equipped with an iron shell shield, which is a half height card, and the interface is PCI-E x1.

The black circuit board can be seen on the back.

Disassembly

Disassemble it as soon as you start. Unscrew the screws on the back and remove the shield to see the front of the circuit board.

1. Acquisition and conversion chip

As shown in the figure above, the card acquisition and conversion chip is Yuqun EJ511, a USB 3.0 acquisition chip that supports I2S audio input and RGB 24 bit color input.

According to official documents, the chip supports up to 1080p/60fps. When the access interface is USB 2.0, MJPEG compression can be provided.

2. HDMI to RGB chip

Since the input end of the acquisition chip is RGB 24+I2S, there is an IT66021FN beside it. The chip is used to convert HDMI to RGB and provide I2S digital audio output.

3. USB3.0 master control

The ASM1042 in the upper left corner is a USB 3.0 controller, which is used to convert PCI-E to USB 3.0 for acquisition and output.

4. Other chips

There are also NUC126NE4AE (single chip microcomputer) and some other control ICs on the board, which are not very important.

test

I use the host mode of the Switch game console to test the screen, sound and delay.

1. Connection

First, use HDMI to connect the acquisition card to the switch base, then open the OBS and add a video capture device.

Select MSI STREAMING BOOST Video Device at the device, and then select 1920 * 1080 and 60 at the resolution and refresh rate.

For audio, the output of the device is realized through an analog microphone. A simple way to play audio: select the corresponding microphone at the mixer and turn it on Monitor and output

If you want to use the system microphone at the same time, you can add an audio capture device in the same way as the video capture above.

2. Picture

The card supports 1080p natively, and the picture is good in general. After conversion and compression, the picture has no large color block or obvious color difference.

When using the "Mario Manufacturing 2" test, the high-speed moving scroll will not show any residue.

3. Sound

It sounds roughly the same as native HDMI, but there are some differences in some aspects.

When "Made in Mario 2" is turned on, there will be a sound effect at the top of the logo at the beginning. At the end of the sound effect, there will be some very slight trills in the sound effect of the real machine, while the acquisition card may almost not hear trills due to audio compression problems.

Of course, for most games, the sound sounds almost indistinguishable.

4. Delay

I tested "Made in Mario 2" and "Nintendo Star Wars", and there was no delay in the picture and sound of the acquisition card, which did not affect the game.

In fact, when the switch uses the host mode, the delay of the two wireless handles is much more serious than that of the acquisition card.

summary

  1. It's only 200 yuan. What kind of bike do you want.
  2. buy whatever you want.
