Setting Up and Using the iCloud Tab

ICloud can keep tabs opened in Safari browser updated on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Mac. This means that even if you use different devices successively, you can continue to browse from the place where you left off last time.

Set iCloud Tab

Complete the following steps on all devices that want to share tabs.

On iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

  1. Go to Settings and tap your name.

  2. Tap iCloud.

  3. Under "App using iCloud", make sure Safari browser is open. You may need to tap Show All to see Safari.

On Mac

  1. Select Apple Menu>System Settings. In macOS Monterey or earlier, select Apple Menu>System Preferences.

  2. Click Apple ID, and then click iCloud.

  3. Tap Safari Browser to open it.

Turn tabs from another device on or off

On iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

  1. Open Safari browser.

  2. Lighter Tab button Tab , and then tap New Tab button New Tab button

  3. By default, the Start Page contains a section that displays tabs that are open on your other devices.

  4. Tap a tab you want to open.

  5. To close a tab from another Apple device, press and hold the link, and then select Close.

On Mac

  1. Open Safari browser.

  2. From the Bookmarks menu on the menu bar, select Show Start Page.

  3. By default, the Start Page contains a section that displays tabs that are open on your other devices.

  4. Tap a tab you want to open.

  5. To close a tab on another Apple device, press and hold the Control key, click this tab, and then select Close Tab.

Using Tab Groups

To keep tabs organized and easy to find again later, you can use tab groups to organize them. After creating a tab group, you can share it with others who also use iCloud to collaborate in Safari browser.

If you can't set up or use the iCloud tab

The iCloud tab can be used between devices running iOS 13 or iPadOS 13 or higher and devices running macOS Mojave 10.14.4 or higher, or between devices running iOS 12 or lower and devices running macOS Mojave 10.14.3 or lower.
