Nobody in New York is a guest. Why is New York a home | In a foreign land 05

    [What the anchor said]
Today is a series of TV programs. We focus on New York. Together we talked about two old friends, Tony, the anchor of Planet Tavern, and Xiao Lan, the anchor of Tired Baby.
Tony and Xiao Lan both studied in the United States when they were young. After living in New York for many years, Xiao Lan continued to stay in New York and made a home in Brooklyn. Tony decided to leave and move to Chiang Mai half a world away to explore a new life there. In April this year, when I visited New York briefly, I met them. When recording this episode, the three of us, one just arrived in New York, the other lived in New York, and the other temporarily left New York. We got together and talked about this city where we love and hate.
Tony wrote, "(New York) The city doesn't care whether people talk about it or not. But for everyone who stays here for a long time, the city is so huge. It is a vision, hope, window, harbor, and chaos, danger, pain, disaster. How rich and diverse it is, how crowded and crowded it is. It is the source of all kinds of beauty and difficulties in life. It is often even life itself. "

    Flat cosmopolitanism is an illusion

    Flat cosmopolitanism is an illusion

    [What the anchor said]
Yugoslavia, a country that no longer exists today. Historically, it was a cosmopolitan utopian experiment ground, but today, its ghost still haunts Europe to some extent.
Bai Lin, a Chinese writer, visited this place known as Yugoslavia in history from 2018 to 2020, and wrote his experience in the book "The temptation of the border - looking for Yugoslavia". She described her encounter with the former Yugoslavia as "a necessity among many accidents of life... I was lucky to find the resonance of life in Yugoslavia and a torch to release the restless flame in my life". This is not only a work about Yugoslavia, but also a valuable record of the pre epidemic era. Returning to history, we also ask the present: what does the boundary mean when the world is conservative and closed? If there is no boundary, can we understand each other better?
In this program, we had a chat with Bolin. From this book, talk about Yugoslavia, Europe, travel, writing, female identity, etc. We want to discuss with her the following question: To what extent can our generation "open up their horizons and become a truly open person"?

Hi, dear friends, we have come to the blowing column "Talk at Night from Time to Time", where we synchronize with old friends who are out of time, and also share our feelings brought about by recent changes in life, focusing on a chat and truth.
In this program, we first disclosed our own lovelorn experiences, and our own thoughts and changes in these experiences (don't miss Yang Yiyou's love breakup story like an adventure film), and also discussed the subtle changes in the social trend of thought reflected in the public opinion's attitude towards female stars' divorce; As well as the awakening of female subjectivity, what challenges and contradictions have emerged for a heterosexual relationship. I hope this program can bring you some joy, healing and thinking in your spare time!

Inappropriate × Pang Ying: After experiencing frozen eggs, I have a deeper understanding of women's dilemma

    [What the anchor said]
The second Sunday of May is the annual Mother's Day. When talking about the word "mother", everyone may have many complex feelings in their hearts. Today, we will no longer take for granted the traditional society's expectations of mothers. But I'm afraid criticism is not enough. After the criticism, we still face the challenge of how to build. In modern society, how should we redefine the role of mother? How should today's young people, especially girls, view the choices around childbearing? In this series of special programs in May, we invited some good friends around us to talk about their thoughts on fertility. You will hear their professional knowledge analysis or sincere sharing of personal life experience.
Today is the last episode of this series. The guest is our old friend A Pang. In the first two episodes, we found some friends who already have children to share, such as new parents, or have many years of experience in parenting. Today, we want to focus on those who have not yet decided whether they will become mothers. This program originated from an offline chat with Ah Pang. In March this year, I went to Singapore on a business trip. At Ah Pang's home, we talked about fertility. Ah Pang is my age. She has the aura of envy of many peers. She graduated from Yale University, is a well-known debater, and an executive of the world's top consulting company. Since he had not yet decided whether he would have children, at some time last year, Ah Pang decided to freeze the eggs. But in this process, she realized that frozen eggs are not the insurance that many women think is easy to buy when they have money. Everyone's individual experience is really different. In the capitalist world, the emergence of the frozen egg option has even become a new way for many large companies to control female employees. Although frozen eggs provide a new option for women who want to postpone childbearing, they cannot solve the real fertility dilemma faced by women.
This program is also a reunion between us and Ah Pang. More than two years ago, we got to know Ah Pang just because of his recording. Over the past two years, many changes have taken place in Ah Pang's life. He has moved back to Singapore from Washington and is about to publish his new book "Thinking 35: Think Like a Debater". We will select a few lucky listeners from the Cosmos comment area of this program and the micro blog comments, and send Ah Pang's new book.

Today is the third episode of the Mother's Day series. The guests are two old friends of our program: Xu Xiaochuang and Li Zixin. In the last episode, we invited Wei Wei and Ke Yuan to enjoy the experience of becoming a novice parent. In this episode, we want to focus on those friends who have had some years of childcare experience, what different challenges and difficulties will they face, and what meaning and happiness will they gain after their children have passed the infancy stage. Xiaochuang and Zixin are a couple living in London at present. They have two children. The eldest son is about to enter university and the youngest daughter is still in primary school. In the past two decades, their childcare stories have also been interspersed with major life decisions such as transnational relocation, resignation and entrepreneurship. Does having a child mean that you need to give up taking risks in your life? The concept of digital nomads is deeply rooted in the hearts of the people today, but it is more targeted. Is it possible to "educate nomads" around the world with children? As Xiaochuang wrote on social media, "There are too many opposites and conflicts in this society. Both mothers and fathers are feeling their way across the river. May mothers feel more freedom in the process of raising children and themselves instead of being trapped in time."

Today is the second episode of the Mother's Day series. The guests are two old friends of our program: Fang Kecheng and Wei Wei. They are a couple, also a novice parents, and now live in Hong Kong. Six months ago, they welcomed the birth of their son Luca. The process was full of twists and turns. Fang Kecheng even thought for a time that he was going to lose Weiwei. Fortunately, everything was safe after the danger was averted. However, production is only the first step of the story. In this program, they shared their experiences in the months when they became novice parents. What does it mean to be a parent? How to understand and deal with the severe pain women face during childbirth? Why is motherhood a shackle and fatherhood a social bonus?
I was very touched by the sincere sharing of two old friends, which is also one of the original intentions of our series. Our goal is not to draw an absolute conclusion about whether we are good or not. Instead, we want to show all these complex aspects around fertility, so that fertility decisions can return to the level of personal choice, and everyone can make more rational choices in a more informed situation.
