The climate of Chengdu is gradually entering the rainy season, and the street trees in Chengdu will also usher in a new round of "transformation".
Why prune trees when it is rainy season? What are the standards for pruning trees? How to deal with irregular pruning? On May 22, at the on-site training activity of pruning roadside trees in rainy season in Chengdu hosted by Chengdu Park and City Construction Administration and hosted by Jinjiang Park and City Administration, relevant staff of Chengdu Park and City Construction Administration answered these questions.
"Today, the tree we are demonstrating to prune is Saponins sinensis. Because this tree has independent branches, especially in the rainy season, it is easy to have dead branches falling. In addition, the sharp thorns on the branches of Saponins sinensis are easy to pose a threat to the personal safety of pedestrians, so we need to prune it." At the training site, Deng Fei, a technician of Chengdu Park Urban Landscaping Management and Maintenance Center, explained to the reporter about the street trees being trimmed, "The rainy season is coming, these trees have grown for a period of time after pruning in winter, and their branches and shapes may have some problems, which are easy to break in heavy wind and rain, and there are potential safety hazards."
In addition to potential safety hazards, beauty is also the purpose of pruning. Chen Haibin, Deputy Director of the Greening Department of Chengdu Municipal Park Bureau, said that after a period of natural growth of trees, there must be irregular growth of branches, affecting the image of the city, so professionals are required to regularly conduct standardized pruning.
What are the standards for pruning trees? Chen Haibin said that the pruning of roadside trees directly affects the image of the city. It is necessary to put an end to excessive pruning, brutal pruning and other illegal pruning in accordance with the provisions of the Chengdu Guidelines for the Pruning and Shaping of Landscaping Trees. "Different tree species have different pruning methods, and what needs to be retained and what needs to be achieved after pruning depends on the tree species. We will also regularly organize technical presentations and train our staff. "
For pruning effect, Chengdu has also established relevant systems to monitor the training results. "We have specially set up a patrol team for greening and pruning. There are regular and irregular patrols and quarterly assessments for street and community greening. After the assessment, we will also notify unqualified streets for rectification." Chen Haibin said.
Chen Haibin reminded that the failure to implement the technical specifications for tree and shrub pruning, resulting in excessive and ultra intensive pruning, tree destruction or tree death, will be handed over to the public security organs and the urban management comprehensive administrative law enforcement department for punishment in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Chengdu Landscaping Regulations.
