On May 22, Red Star News reporter learned from China Nuclear Power Research and Design Institute that the "brain" of Linglong I, the world's first reactor, the main control room of the nuclear power plant, was officially put into use on May 21.

At 8:38 yesterday (May 21), with the successful construction of part of the network of the digital control system (DCS) and the first on-site measurement signal displayed on the main control screen, the "brain" of Linglong No.1, the world's first reactor, the multi-purpose modular small reactor technology demonstration project in Changjiang, Hainan, the main control room of the nuclear power plant was officially launched for use.

As the monitoring and control center of the system and equipment of the nuclear power plant, in the main control room, the personnel on duty can obtain the operation conditions of the equipment and systems in the area through various monitoring equipment, and send appropriate operations and instructions to the equipment and systems in the area according to these information.

It is reported that Linglong No. 1 main control room uses a large wall mounted monitoring screen for the first time, which greatly optimizes the space of the main control room, among which DCS system is known as the "nerve center" of nuclear power plants in the industry.

It is worth mentioning that this "new business card" of the "Made in China" country has "Chengdu Gene". China Nuclear Power Research and Design Institute in Chengdu is the birthplace of the core technology of "Linglong No.1".

Many key equipment of Linglong No.1 are developed and manufactured in Chengdu, such as the nuclear steam digital I&C system independently designed by China Nuclear Power Research and Design Institute, and the Longlin platform (safety level) with completely independent intellectual property rights

The reporter learned that the design of the nuclear steam digital I&C system integrates the advanced measurement and control technology of Hualong No.1 and AP1000 to meet the requirements of normal operation, accident protection, and severe accident mitigation, taking into account the requirements of high reliability and high safety; Longlin platform can realize reactor safety control under various working conditions to ensure the safe operation of nuclear power plant. The main control room and DCS system together control and monitor hundreds of systems, nearly 10000 equipment operations and various working conditions of the nuclear power plant to ensure its safe, reliable and efficient operation.

It is understood that the Hainan Nuclear Multi purpose Modular Small Reactor Science and Technology Demonstration Project will start construction in Hainan on July 13, 2021. After completion and operation, it is estimated that the annual power generation can reach 1 billion kWh, which can meet the power demand of 526000 households in Hainan. At the same time, the annual carbon dioxide emissions can be reduced by about 880000 tons, which is equivalent to planting 7.5 million trees a year.
