Electric Vehicle Market Cooling Volkswagen Announces to Delay the Launch of ID.7 Pure Electric Car in the United States

[CNMO technology news] Volkswagen announced on Wednesday that due to changes in market conditions, the launch of its all electric ID.7 sedan in the United States and Canada will be delayed.

Volkswagen ID. 7

In a statement released today, the company said: "Volkswagen is committed to making choices according to market demand, while listening to our customers' opinions. With the continuous changes in market dynamics, Volkswagen has decided to postpone the launch of ID.7 sedan in the United States and Canada."

Since last year, ID.7 sedan has been sold in European and domestic markets. The vehicle is initially expected to enter the U.S. market in 2024 as an electric alternative to Passat, which has been discontinued in North America. The car is equipped with a 77 kilowatt hour battery, which can provide a range of about 300 miles (482 kilometers). It also has a larger 86 kilowatt hour battery version, which will be released in the future. In February this year, Volkswagen also plans to launch a travel version of the car.

Volkswagen did not give a new timetable for ID. 7 to enter the North American market, but said that the sales of its SUV models in the first quarter of 2024 increased by 27.5% year on year. Perhaps because of the gratifying growth momentum of SUVs, Volkswagen's demand for cars has become less urgent.

In terms of time, the delay of Volkswagen ID. 7 occurred at the moment when the demand for electric vehicles in the United States declined. Due to the lack of truly affordable options and problems related to charging infrastructure and charging time, there are not many consumers buying electric vehicles in the US market. Therefore, it is not surprising that Volkswagen decided to suspend the launch of ID. 7.

But the German carmaker has not completely abandoned electric cars. It still plans to launch ID in the United States in the fourth quarter of 2024 Buzz model, a pure electric MPV model, has many different versions, which can not only meet the needs of family travel, but also provide a box truck version for transporting goods.
