On May 22, Fast Technology reported that a recent survey report showed that China's TV power on rate was less than 30%.

According to the Report on New Trends of China's Smart TV Interaction in 2024 released by the Prospective Industry Research Institute, since 2016, China's TV power on rate has dropped precipitously from 70% to less than 30% in 2022.

An online poll involving 78000 people showed that nearly 50% of the people had not turned on the TV for a long time, and about 20% said that there was no TV at home.

Subsequently, the data released by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television showed that the total revenue of the national radio and television service industry in the first quarter of 2024 was 313.991 billion yuan, up 8.17% year on year.  

In the first quarter, the broadcast time of national radio programs was 3.8372 million hours, and the broadcast time of television programs was 4.1666 million hours. By the end of March, there were 205 million actual cable TV users and 23.5833 million radio and television 5G users nationwide.

He Tianping, an associate professor of the School of Journalism at Renmin University of China, said that the declining utilization rate of traditional TV has been an "old situation" for many years. The decline of traditional TV is inevitable, which is the law of media development and the inevitable trend of the digital era.

Many problems exist in the large screen terminal, which also make the audience shy away from watching TV.

TV operation is complicated and it is difficult to watch live broadcast, which makes many viewers lose the desire to turn on the TV and the patience to watch continuously; Many advertisements and "dolls" are charged, which increases the cost of watching TV and affects the audience's audio-visual experience and watching interest.
