Sina Science and Technology News On the evening of May 21, it was reported that after the volcano engine set off a big model "price war" and Alibaba Cloud announced the "break through" of the global big model base price, Baidu today announced that the two main models of Wenxin big model were free of charge, bringing the big model price war to a new height.

In this regard, Fu Sheng, Chairman and CEO of Cheetah Mobile and Chairman of Orion Star, commented that "in the short term, the performance of the big model has met a bottleneck, and no one can get rid of anyone. Reducing reasoning costs and selling prices has become a high priority task for every company."

Fu Sheng pointed out that "this big price cut basically announced that big model start-ups must look for new business models. The most serious ones are big companies with cloud services. They can obtain cloud customers through big models, and it is affordable for pigs. Big model start-ups do not have such an ecosystem, so they must look for another business model."

In Fu Sheng's view, the goal of this round of AI big model price reduction is not to make users use it more directly, but to attract developers. "Now all major model apps are basically free. Essentially, the number of users of major model apps can't increase, including OpenAl!" He pointed out that recently, some major model apps have extremely high promotion costs, ROI can't be counted. "We all realize that it is impossible for users to use more and more with just one chat window. We must involve more developers to develop applications so that users can use them more easily."

Fu Sheng believes that this round of price reduction has limited impact on enterprise users. Because enterprise users need A1 applications, they are more concerned about data security. Now the open source small parameter large model plus application suite can meet the needs of most enterprises, but no one can save the cost of suite customization, and the cost of privatizing the large model has been very low.

"After we proposed that every enterprise should have its own big privatization model, the customers we contacted were very satisfied," Fu Sheng said.

Fu Sheng believes that the core reason for the price reduction is not only the internal volume of the big model manufacturers, but also the heavy investment of Apple, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Lenovo and other equipment manufacturers in localized AI computing power and local big models. "AI PCs and AI mobile phones will become the mainstream. Local computing will not cost money, but also protect privacy and meet most scenarios. The use scenarios of the general model will be greatly limited."

"Nvidia's cards may not be so crowded!" Fu Sheng sighed. (Wen Meng)
