Reuters reported earlier that some employees who did not want to be named said that their supervisors told them that their quarterly bonus would be reduced by about 2000 yuan due to the decline of the overall performance of the factory and the impact of a safety accident. The safety accident occurred in February, when an employee in the welding workshop died, but the investigation showed that the employee was responsible for it.

Shanghai Super Factory is Tesla's first automobile manufacturing factory outside the United States. Currently, it mainly produces Model3 and ModelY electric vehicles. Shanghai Super Factory is one of Tesla's most important manufacturing bases in the world. The factory started construction in January 2019 and delivered the Chinese made Model3 in December of the same year. At the end of 2020, the factory will start to produce ModelY again. It is reported that the current annual capacity of the factory is 250000 vehicles, and it is planned to increase to 450000 vehicles. Tesla has also established an independent engineering and design team in China.
