IT Home reported on May 23 that Korean media ETNews reported that, Samsung has launched the 2nm application chip (AP) project code named "Thetis" , which is planned to be mass produced in 2025 and will be equipped in Galaxy S26 series mobile phones in 2026 under the name of Exynos 2600 chip.
Thetis is the goddess of the sea in ancient Greek mythology, the wife of Peleus and the mother of Achilles. Tethys was a nymph but married a mortal, and gave birth to Achilles, the hero of the Trojan War.
IT Home reported on May 4 that Roland Quandt, a source, believed that Samsung planned to use its self-developed GPU core in its Exynos flagship chip to be launched in 2026.
Samsung's Exynos 2400 chip model is S5E9945, and its successor chip (which should be Exynos 2500) launched next year is S5E9955. The two flagship chips above are equipped with the XClipse GPU jointly built by AMD.
Samsung and Apple are currently competing in the field of 2nm chips. Samsung's advantage is that it has its own OEM factory, which can more closely commercialize 2nm chips.
Apple is also actively laying out 2nm chips. Jeff Williams, chief operating officer of Apple, visited TSMC on May 20. The latest news said that the two sides held a "secret meeting", and Apple will round up all the initial 2nm process capacity of TSMC.
