The "pie" of online job hunting may become a "trap"

When Xiao Zhou was looking for a job online, he saw a recruitment advertisement for a group in Suzhou. The next day, Xiao Zhou came to the interview and paid the photo fee, meal card fee, accommodation deposit, etc. When he was expecting to go to work, he found that everything had changed. The job content is totally different, and the promised salary can't be implemented at all... Thinking of the deposit of more than 1000 yuan, Xiao Zhou tried to contact the "supervisor" and "HR manager" during the interview, but no reply came back.

Xiao Zhou's encounter is not an exception. With the rapid development of the Internet, online job hunting has become the first choice for more and more young people with its advantages of low cost and wide coverage, but it has also spawned a series of new online job hunting scams.

Low threshold and high income: pitfalls

"More money, less work", "tens of thousands of dollars a month", "no limitation of experience, no limitation of technology"... This is probably a good expectation of job seekers for future work, but it has become a bait for criminals to carefully weave "sweet traps".

"In the middle of March 2018, when I was surfing the Internet in my hometown Henan, I saw a company in Suzhou recruiting truck drivers with a monthly salary of 10000 yuan to 12000 yuan. At that time, I was moved and came all the way. Unexpectedly, I was cheated for thousands of yuan." Speaking of the experience at that time, Master Xu was very regretful, "They all blame themselves for being too credulous and not demanding such a good treatment. Where can the pie fall from the sky?"

The company Mr. Xu applied for is nominally a labor dispatch company, but actually a criminal dens. Since December 2017, Yao and other five people have formed a criminal gang to recruit salesmen to publish false high salary recruitment information on the Internet, such as more than 10000 yuan per month for drivers, as well as subsidies, five insurances and one fund, food and housing, which has impressed many job seekers, but they do not know that everything is a hoax, aiming at their wallet.

Coincidentally, another criminal gang that defrauded job seekers in the name of "online recruitment" soon emerged. They also use high salaries as bait to attract unknown job seekers to "hook up", involving more than 50 victims all over the country.

In 2019, after being prosecuted by the People's Procuratorate of Xiangcheng District, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, 14 suspects in these two cases were sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment ranging from one year and two months to three years and ten months respectively for fraud, and were also fined.

Selling dog meat by hanging sheep's head: all routine

This kind of online job hunting scam generally has a fixed routine.

First of all, criminals recruited salesmen, and "selling dog meat by hanging sheep's head" posted false high salary recruitment information on the Internet. The specific content, requirements, salary, etc. in the recruitment information were either made up by the salesmen themselves, or collected formal recruitment information from other companies on the Internet, modified it slightly, copied and pasted it, usually drivers, welders, cooks Painter, etc.

"As for the name and address of the recruitment company, they are also fabricated. In order to win the trust of job seekers, some criminals even forge seals and package the fabricated 'false' company into a formal company." Li Jingyu, the prosecutor handling the case, said, "Sometimes, they also claim that they have cooperative relations with some large companies and can hire directly, but in fact, they have neither cooperation nor authorization."

After the jobseeker is deceived and comes to the interview, the criminal will pretend to ask some simple questions at the interview site, and then collect money from the jobseeker in the name of accommodation deposit, card processing fee, information fee, etc., with the cost generally ranging from hundreds to thousands of yuan, and then arrange the jobseeker to work as a general worker in the factory, and collect the funds paid by the jobseeker.

Such a scam is not very clever. Once a job seeker enters the job, he or she will soon find out the problem. But why can the lawbreakers succeed repeatedly?

The key lies in a series of follow-up measures. There are members of the gang who are specially responsible for pacifying the mood of job seekers. They will generally claim that they can change jobs and refund the deposit after a certain period of time, and cajole job seekers to "obey" and become general workers. Sometimes, they also pretend to be job seekers and chat up with real job seekers to win trust and lure them into being duped as "past people".

If they insist on refunding the deposit, they also have various methods. For example, the applicant is required to fill in a refund form, claiming to wait for a few working days before returning the money, but actually does not operate; Or deduct a part of the money in the name of information fees, and refund as little as possible.

Because many job seekers live far away from their hometown, with high round-trip time and economic costs, they often have to swallow their pride and admit that they are unlucky when they still cannot get a refund after repeated urging.

The victim stood in the dock: regretful

It is worth noting that some of these criminal gangs who use online recruitment to commit fraud have changed from job seekers to fraudsters.

"At the beginning, I just wanted to find a job as a driver. When I saw the recruitment information on the Internet, I came to apply and paid a deposit of several hundred yuan." Wang told the prosecutor about his experience of joining a criminal gang, "They arranged me to be a salesperson and posted the recruitment information on the Internet. Later, I figured out that our job was to cheat money."

According to the investigation, Mr. Wang joined the criminal gang through online recruitment, and found that the "company" did not take the initiative to get out of the fraud, but got deeper and deeper, becoming a "main general" in the gang, and was eventually sentenced to three years and two months in prison, with a fine of 8000 yuan.

The victim stood in the dock, which was really a pity. In several cases prosecuted by the Xiangcheng District People's Procuratorate for fraud through online recruitment, Wang is not an exception.

"Online job hunting scams are often committed by teams, requiring a large number of salesmen. Criminals are also recruiting people while looking for prey. Some job seekers have less social experience, poor recognition of recruitment advertisements, and are easy to hit by mistake, so they have entered the fraud gang." The prosecutor said.

At the beginning, these people had no intention of subjectively participating in the crime, but after working for a period of time, they found problems and realized that they were engaged in illegal activities. However, because of their weak legal awareness, they could not resist the commissions and bonuses they earned for nothing. They were lucky and finally fell into the abyss of crime.

There are many online recruitment scams. Shi Yiqing, Deputy Procurator General of the Xiangcheng District Procuratorate, summarized the previous case and reminded that job seekers must keep their eyes open when they apply for jobs online, improve their awareness of prevention for some jobs with low threshold and high income, carefully understand the company's situation and work content before entering the company, and pay attention to protecting themselves once they find illegal and criminal acts, Contact the police in time.
