BEIJING, Feb. 27, Shanghai (Zheng Yingying, Miao Xinpei) In the vast space, the only energy source of spacecraft is the sun.
One month after the launch of satellite A, Landste-1 Group 01 satellite B was launched at Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center on the 27th. The solar cell wings of A and B satellites in Group 01 of Landsat 1 have gone through a major change, taking an important step in the localization of China's satellite power supply.
Liu Yonghui, the model commander of Group 01 Satellite Power Subsystem of Land Exploration No.1 of the Eighth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "the Eighth Academy"), introduced that the satellite uses three junction GaAs solar cells with a long life, high reliability and an average photoelectric conversion efficiency of more than 30%. The germanium substrate, the most important component of solar cells, has been replaced by domestic ones.
811 Institute of the Eighth Academy of Sciences has joined hands with leading enterprises in China's germanium industry to improve the mechanical properties of germanium substrates.

"With reference to international test requirements, we conducted mechanical performance tests on solar cells made of domestic germanium substrates, and the results showed that the mechanical performance indicators of domestic germanium substrates were better than those of the original imported germanium substrates." Wang Xunchun, director of the 811 Institute of Physics Power Supply Division of the Eighth Academy, said.
The in orbit data of Landsde-1 Group 01 A satellite also shows that the solar cell is not only excellent in electrical performance, but also better in mechanical performance, which can meet the requirements of satellite in orbit for long life.
The development of Group 01 of Land Exploration No.1 has laid the foundation for promoting the localization of solar cells and helped to form an independent and controllable solar cell supply chain in China. (End)
