On May 23, the interface news industry learned that the regulatory authorities had recently given window guidance to some insurance asset management companies, emphasizing the focus on the main business, requiring control of the scale of individual investors' investment in insurance asset management products, and suggested not to issue new insurance asset management products for individual investors.

However, in the interview, most insurance asset management companies told InterfaceNews that at present, insurance asset management companies are mainly private equity products sold to institutions. "Some institutions have sold insurance asset management products to individual investors, but the scale is not large. We do not have such practical operations internally, so the impact of tightening personal business is limited." said a head of insurance asset management company.

In fact, it is not a long time for insurance asset management companies to sell insurance asset management products to individual investors.

In May 2020, the Interim Measures for the Administration of Insurance Asset Management Products was officially implemented, which stipulated that insurance asset management products should be issued to qualified investors in a non-public manner, and made it clear that qualified investors refer to natural persons who have the corresponding ability to identify and bear risks, invest in a single product of no less than a certain amount and meet the conditions Legal persons or other organizations established according to law.

The specific requirements of natural person investors are that they have more than two years of investment experience and meet one of the following conditions: the family's net financial assets are not less than 3 million yuan, the family's financial assets are not less than 5 million yuan, or their average annual income in the past three years is not less than 400000 yuan.

So far, insurance asset management companies have been approved to sell insurance asset management products to individual investors. However, in these four years, the insurance asset management products actually sold to individuals are limited, and are expected to shrink further in the future.
