The artistic conception of China's traditional rivers and mountains will be unfolded, and a landscape will be selected from the lakes and mountains, such as a dragon.

Beijing Yanqi Lake Scenic Area, surrounded by a continuous layer of mountains and backed by Hongluo Mountain, will become an important window for the capital's international exchanges in the near future. Therefore, Wang Shu, a Pritzker Prize winning architect, and Wimberly Interiors, an interior design studio under WATG, are invited to make a perfect match, and to show the Chinese people's yearning for a better life and build a new look of Yanbai Mountain Villa with the precious work of Wang Ximeng, a painter in the Northern Song Dynasty.

   Picture in picture, mountain outside

Continue the form of building facade tile wall to the hotel lobby, and use the recycled glazed tiles and bricks on the original site to treat it as a wall like a tapestry, which is integrated with the building.

Wang Ximeng's "A Thousand Miles Map of Rivers and Mountains" reveals the Chinese people's yearning for an ideal life. Yanbai Mountain Villa is the reality of this painting. The hotel is located at the bank of Yanqi Lake, where the charm of garden art is gathered perfectly, and at the same time, the ancient people's love of pastoral landscape is poured into it.

Wimberly Interiors and architect Wang Shu jointly discussed how to condense the 3D world into a 2D picture scroll, draw color from the picture, integrate the form of tile wall into the hotel lobby, and the recycled glazed tiles and stone bricks form a tapestry like wall, which is integrated with the architecture. When guests step into the hotel, they will create an unforgettable arrival experience in a unique way.

In the lobby, the wooden ceiling adopts the mortise tenon structure, just like an art installation with the theme of traditional Chinese architecture, the integration of indoor and outdoor space, and the transition from the lobby to the Meiguan Restaurant are further displayed and continued, and the traditional Chinese aesthetic is reinterpreted from a modern perspective.

The natural touch is presented everywhere in the hotel:

In the lounge, elegant silk walls and large landscape paintings create a warm and quiet gathering space.

In the restaurant, wood, marble and glass take the natural color of brass and earth as the main line, and in the atmosphere of natural materials, it shows the Chinese people's life philosophy of conforming to nature and letting life coexist with nature.

The guest rooms further extend the natural artistic conception. On the wall at the head of the bed, various river and mountain pictures are used as the description of the hotel artistic conception, while the large area French windows integrate the landscape of Yanqi Lake into every moment of life, realizing the ideal of "people traveling in paintings".

Take advantage of the situation, and the situation is generated by the potential.

Wimberly Interiors does not do any decoration. The concrete of the wall is exposed, and only two simple curtains are used as decoration.

Yanbai Mountain Villa is like a dragon, lying in the mountain, but the architecture that leans along the mountain and the rich gardens and architectural techniques bring considerable challenges to the interior design.

In the eyes of Wimberly Interiors interior designers, the "Thousand Miles Map" is not only an aura of landscape, but also a manifestation of lifestyle.

Liu Haoyang, Deputy Director of WATG+Wimberly Interiors | Senior Director and Senior Director of Yanbai Villa Project, Feeling: "In the past three years, our design team has been very committed to learning Chinese traditional gardens and Chinese philosophy conveyed in the landscape scroll. The designer has translated his understanding into various spaces in a unique visual form, hoping that the guests can get the experience of" people traveling in the painting "and achieve some unspeakable understanding with the original intention of the designer.

The Chinese culture of Yanbai Mountain Manor is not only reflected in the visual presentation of the design itself, but also in the thinking, more broadly, it reflects the homeopathy wisdom in Chinese traditional culture.

Interior and architecture are more like the two protagonists of a play. When one is strong in potential energy, the other is weak. Interior design follows the potential energy of architecture. When the architecture is more complex and eye-catching, the interior design is extremely simplified. If the architecture provides enough abundant space, the interior design can be highlighted.

In the lobby space, the building provides a wide enough space and a continuous moving line. Guests can now see the continuous tiled wall and the ceiling like tenon and mortise installation art. In order to show the continuous movement of the internal space, the traditional partition between the hotel lobby and the all day dining hall is cancelled, and the atmosphere is changed only by design. The wall texture composed of natural materials changes constantly in the space. In details, it caters to the ups and downs of the external space with a subtle and subtle rhythm, It is like the presentation of the mood in the Chinese classical garden, changing the scene step by step, one thought moving, one thought static.

The teahouse adopts a minimalist approach, "what you can use is what you can use". The large floor to ceiling windows present the unique landscape of Yanbai Mountain Villa. The teahouse looks like a secret place hidden in the classical garden, Wimberly Interiors does not do any decoration. The concrete of the wall is exposed, and only two simple curtains are used as decoration.

Yanbai Mountain Villa is very different from his previous projects. There are many changes in the indoor space. It can be seen from more than 60 guest rooms and more than 40 room types in the hotel. The cabinets and furniture placed in each room are tailored according to the subtle changes. Even the same guest will get different experience when living in different room types.

   [Postscript]

The interior design history of Yanbai Villa runs through a special history from 2019 to 2022. During this period, there was no limit to communication. How to keep the interior and architecture and landscape complementary, how to reflect the foreign affairs conference function of the country's diplomatic image, and how to show the atmosphere of a good Chinese life. For the historic three years, the design team overcame many difficulties to strive for the perfect presentation of the design effect.

Fortunately, the team atmosphere of Wimberly Interiors is harmonious. The members of the project team come from different countries with different backgrounds, form a multi-cultural perspective, and have an open discussion atmosphere. Each has its own advantages. The final presentation of Yanbai Villa has brought unexpected surprises.
