(Reporter Sun Leqi) Scarlet fever is at its peak. The Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention recently issued a health tip that children should seek medical treatment in time if they have fever, rash and other symptoms, and should not go to school with illness.

Scarlet fever is an acute respiratory infectious disease, which can cause tonsillitis, angina and other upper respiratory infectious diseases in children. At present, there is no vaccine to prevent it. Its complications, rheumatic fever and acute glomerulonephritis, seriously endanger the health of adolescents. The disease can occur all year round, with the spring peak from May to June and the winter peak from November to January. Scarlet fever is mainly transmitted through respiratory droplets, contact with articles, hands, food, etc. contaminated by pathogenic bacteria, and can also be infected through damaged skin. The population is generally susceptible, with kindergartens and primary school students as the main population. After infection, strong immunity can be obtained. The main clinical manifestations are acute onset, high fever with sore throat, and rash the next day after onset. The rash starts behind the ears, neck and upper chest, and can spread all over the body within one day. Typical rashes, such as "goose bumps", mostly subside within a week, and the trunk often shows bran like desquamation. Some patients may have "strawberry tongue" and "bayberry tongue". The Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention reminds that when there are scarlet fever patients around, they should pay close attention to the physical condition of children, and send them to the hospital in time when there are related symptoms.
