Recently, netizens in Kunming, Yunnan, said through the People's Daily Online "Leaders Message Board", For the sake of students' health, it is suggested that the city replace new desks and chairs so that students can have a better rest at noon and have sufficient energy to study in the afternoon.

In response to the netizen's message, the Kunming Municipal Bureau of Education and Sports replied that according to the school management, the municipal education department is responsible for the allocation of "couch" for schools directly under the city, and the district school is responsible for the allocation of "couch" for schools directly under the city.

The reply indicated that this work would be carried out according to local conditions. "The state has relevant regulations on the size of classroom area, and there is no mandatory provision for primary and secondary schools to use the 'couch'. If most schools use the 'lie and sleep', the classroom area cannot meet the demand for this function, so it is only implemented in schools with conditions. Kunming Municipal Bureau of Education and Sports said: "At present, most tables and chairs are still within the service life of assets. Based on the principle of economy and objectivity, we will urge and guide schools that meet the conditions for newly purchased tables and chairs to purchase 'couch' as much as possible and replace them year by year in batches."
