From May 8 to 12, the 2024 Asian Mountain Bike Championship and Asian Mountain Bike Youth Championship U23 and Youth Olympic Cross country Race was held in Malaysia. Yunnan athletes fought bravely for the first place in the competition and won three gold medals and one bronze medal.

In this event, Wu Zhifan, Yuan Jinwei, Gao Yuanpan and Chen Liyun of Yunnan Cycling Team took part in the race. In the first team relay project on May 8, Wu Zhifan joined hands with Qin Shaochao from Heilongjiang Province, Wang Ting from Gansu Province, Mi Jiujiang, Wang Sheng and Yang Mingxue from Guizhou Province to form a Chinese relay team, winning the first gold medal of the Asian Championships for the Chinese team.

On May 11, the 2024 Asian Mountain Cycling Championships women's group competition started. Wu Zhifan worked closely with his teammates, and finally won the championship with a time of 1 hour, 20 minutes and 09 seconds. At the same time, Chinese athletes won the top three women's groups. The competition in the men's group was extremely fierce, and Yuan Jinwei won the bronze medal in 1 hour, 30 minutes and 44 seconds.

In the women's group of the cross-country elimination race on the last race day, the rising mountain biker Gao Yuanpan of Yunnan gave an excellent performance and took the lead in the sprint to win the gold medal.
