The reporter learned from Urumqi Diwopu Airport Customs that in the first four months of this year, the number of inbound and outbound passengers at Urumqi air port exceeded 160000, an increase of 314.88% year on year; 1522 inbound and outbound passenger flights, up 268.52% year on year.

With the implementation of visa free policy between China, Kazakhstan, Georgia and other countries, the international flights at Urumqi Diwopu International Airport have been increasingly intensified, and the number of inbound and outbound passengers at Urumqi airport has continued to increase significantly since this year.

"Because of my work, I often go back and forth between Almaty and Urumqi. Now I just need to scan my passport to complete the customs clearance, which is very convenient," said Luo Yirong, a passenger.

At present, the number of international flights per week at Urumqi Air Port has increased to 97, and the subsequent routes will be further expanded with the actual demand, which will facilitate personnel exchanges, business negotiations and cultural exchanges between Xinjiang, China and surrounding countries and regions. Urumqi Diwopu International Airport will further play its role as an international hub airport for Central Asia.

In the first four months of this year, Urumqi Air Port has successively added and resumed four international routes, including Urumqi Luoyang Bangkok, Urumqi Lanzhou Pattaya and Urumqi Lanzhou Nha Trang.

Zhang Weijie, Deputy Director of Urumqi Diwobao Airport Customs, said that the customs will continue to deepen the construction of "smart travel inspection", continue to implement customs clearance facilitation measures, improve the efficiency of port customs clearance, and better maintain the security of the country with digital transformation and intelligent upgrading.

As of April, Urumqi Diwopu International Airport has opened 22 routes from Urumqi, Xinjiang, China to 13 countries and regions, including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. (Chen Qiangwei)
