Shijiazhuang, April 15 (Reporter Shao Yuzi) The General Office of Hebei Provincial Party Committee and the General Office of Hebei Provincial People's Government recently issued the Opinions on Strengthening Comprehensive Desertification Control and Promoting the Construction of Key Ecological Projects such as "Three North" (hereinafter referred to as the Opinions). The Opinions put forward that by 2030, the forest coverage rate in the "Three North" project area of the province will reach more than 34%, and the forest grass coverage rate will reach more than 55%, which can effectively control desertification land. The ecological status of key sand areas will continue to improve, and the diversity, stability, and sustainability of forest, grassland, wetland, and desert ecosystems will be significantly enhanced.

According to the Opinions, Hebei will make every effort to fight the battle of annihilating the sandy land at the southern edge of Hunshandake, solidly promote the construction of ecological security barriers in Taihang Mountain, solidly promote the construction of ecological security barriers in Yanshan Mountain, solidly promote the construction of millennium beautiful forests in Xiong'an New Area, and solidly promote the construction of large-scale forest farms in the upper reaches of Baiyangdian Lake.

The Opinions emphasized that water resources should be used rationally. Bashang's ecologically vulnerable areas should focus on restoring shrub and grass vegetation, carry out water resource demonstration on relevant plans for desertification prevention and control, and vigorously develop water-saving forests and grass. Adhere to the combination of artificial restoration and natural restoration, give priority to the selection of local tree species and grass species that are drought resistant, barren resistant and wind sand resistant, reasonably allocate the type and density of forest and grass vegetation, vigorously build mixed forests, carry out no tillage and replanting improvement of degraded grasslands, and build artificial mixed grassland. Scientific promotion of Saihanba sandy land management and other models and technologies, and exploration of new models combining photovoltaic sand control and other industries with ecological restoration in appropriate areas.
