1. The reserves are huge.
The reserves of ocean energy in the total ocean water body are huge, but the energy per unit volume, unit area and unit length is small. That is to say, if you want to get large energy, you must get it from a large amount of sea water.
2. Ocean energy is renewable.
Ocean energy comes from the universal gravitation between solar radiation and celestial bodies. As long as the sun, moon and other celestial bodies coexist with the earth, this energy will be renewable and inexhaustible.
3. Ocean energy can be divided into stable and unstable energy.
The more stable ones are temperature difference energy, salinity difference energy and ocean current energy. Unstable energy can be divided into regular and irregular changes. Tidal energy and tidal current energy are unstable but change regularly. According to the change law of tide and tidal current, people prepare daily and hourly tide and tidal current forecasts around the country to predict the tide size and tidal current strength at various times in the future. Tidal power stations and tidal power stations can arrange power generation and operation according to the forecast table. What is unstable and irregular is wave energy.

The overall level of China's marine energy development and utilization technology and achievements has rapidly improved, and the regional layout and industrial chain have taken shape, which is attracting extensive attention from the international community. The reform of the global energy structure has provided broad development space for the development of marine energy. The proposal of national strategies such as marine power and the "Belt and Road" has brought important opportunities for marine energy development and China's international cooperation in marine energy.

Ocean energy is a kind of renewable energy stored in the ocean, mainly including tidal energy, tidal current energy, wave energy, temperature difference energy and salt difference energy. In recent years, with the deepening of the strategy of becoming a maritime power, the economic and social development of coastal and island areas has provided a stable and extensive market demand for the development of marine energy.

The 2016-2020 Investment Analysis and Prospect Forecast Report of China's Marine Energy Industry shows that the theoretical potential of tidal energy, tidal energy, wave energy, temperature difference energy and salt difference energy in China's offshore is about 697 million kilowatts, and the technically exploitable capacity is about 76 million kilowatts. Among them, the temperature difference energy resources account for the largest proportion, accounting for 52.6% of the total ocean energy, and the tidal energy, tidal energy and wave energy with high technical maturity account for 31.1%. On the whole, China's marine energy resources are rich in total amount, complete in variety, and widely distributed but uneven. Among them, the tidal and tidal energy enrichment areas are mainly distributed in the offshore areas of Zhejiang, Fujian, and Shandong, the wave energy enrichment areas are mainly distributed in the offshore areas of Fujian, Guangdong, and the temperature difference energy enrichment areas are mainly located in the South China Sea, and the salt difference energy is mainly located at the estuary of various rivers.

At present, China's marine energy technology demonstration and industrial development are forming four major industrial clusters. They are Shandong Weihai Marine Energy Comprehensive Test and R&D Design Industry Cluster, Zhejiang Zhoushan Tidal Energy Test and Equipment Manufacturing Industry Cluster, Guangdong Wanshan Wave Energy Test and Operation Maintenance Industry Cluster, and the South China Sea Marine Energy Industry Comprehensive Demonstration Zone.

How to plan the marine energy industry?

For the development and effective utilization of the marine energy industry, the Chinese Academy of Mechanical Engineering believes that the following points should be grasped from the perspective of planning and policy guidance:

2. Select several important marine energy science and technology and related topics, strengthen scientific and technological development research, and improve the group's ability to tackle key problems
