Cyber violence governance is one of the topics of public concern. How can mainstream media use AI technology to help governance? During the recently held "Smart Future - 2023 Artificial Intelligence Achievement Exhibition", the People's Daily Online interviewed Mr. Fang, the director of the Internet Governance Research Center of the Institute of Journalism, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, on related issues.

"Law and technology are the two powerful tools to govern online violence." Fang Shishi said that if mainstream media want to play a role in the governance of online violence through algorithms or artificial intelligence technology, they should first do their own work, try to restore the truth through various types of reports, so as to correct the situation. We should not only let the public understand the event itself, but also avoid the tendency of public opinion towards group violence.

Fang Shishi said that when dealing with online violence against ordinary people, from the perspective of public interest, mainstream media can label relevant content through models, algorithms and other technologies, which helps prevent the excessive fermentation of events. However, she also reminded that this could also reverse the spread of online violence, so be careful when dealing with it.

Master Fang believes that mainstream media can also become "science popularists", that is, with the help of AI technology, they can use the ability of large-scale communication to convey to more people the legal provisions, professional tools and effective measures that some ordinary Internet users can use in the face of online violence, so as to gradually improve the quality of Internet users, So that they can not only protect themselves when encountering cyber violence, but also establish a good idea to prevent cyber violence from being imposed on others.
