The dynamic of the IELTS computer test began to spread two years ago. From the first IELTS computer test in Beijing National Test Center at the beginning, to now, the IELTS computer test sites have gradually spread. According to the latest report of Old Roast Duck, recently BC (British Council) China Office announced that it will open the first computer based IELTS test room in mainland China on the last day of August. Notice on Adding Computer based IELTS Test Mode to Some IELTS Test Sites in Mainland China

According to the notice of the British Council of Culture and Education, in order to meet the growing demand of IELTS examinees and provide better services to IELTS examinees, the British Council of Culture and Education (the sponsor of the IELTS test) announced today that part of the mainland China will add the IELTS computer test mode, which is parallel to the paper and pencil test mode, and examinees can choose between them freely.

The first computer based IELTS test in mainland China will be held in Guangzhou Computer based Test Center on August 31. From now on, candidates can register online on the official website of IELTS registration. Computer based test centers in Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing will also provide computer based test services before the end of the year. The introduction of computer-based test will not affect the arrangement of existing paper and pencil tests.

The IELTS computer-based test provides two types of tests: academic and training. The test fee is the same as that of paper and pencil tests, but it will bring better services to the examinees in all aspects. In particular, the arrangement of test dates and test sessions will be more flexible, with more time for registration and faster time for publication of results. At present, the computer-based test is scheduled to take place more than once a week, and registration is closed 7 days before the test date. Candidates can check their scores within 5-7 days after the end of the test. The oral test is usually scheduled on the computer based test date or as close to the computer based test date as possible.

The computer test mode retains the security, effectiveness and preciseness of the IELTS test, and is completely consistent with the current paper pen mode in terms of test content, scoring standard, difficulty level, test question type, test security settings, etc. Candidates can choose to participate in the listening, reading and writing tests through the computer test mode. The IELTS unique "everyone dialogue" oral test mode will still be retained, because the "everyone dialogue" oral test mode is the most effective way to test the examinee's oral English ability, so as to ensure that the examinee can give full play to the best level in the most authentic and natural communication state.
