This question belongs to the introductory question of the third part of IELTS Oral English, and the question will not be particularly in-depth. Generally, candidates are required to list something. There is no unified answer to this question. Therefore, you can give a subjective answer based on your experience in using social media. For example, you can say that people will watch the news or learn about the gossip of stars in the entertainment industry on social media.

Well, the most common thing that pops up in my mind is posting photos or short videos of their lives. You know, most people would not resist the temptation to show off their experiences that make them feel quite excited in their lives. So, this article is from Laokaoya website, they choose to share this kind of excitement with their friends or relatives on open platforms such as Wechat Moments or Weibo. Apart from that, social media users like to check out other people’s profiles and content. Some of them do so just out of curiosity. Whereas, others check the shared information to acquire something that they might not know.

The most common thing I can think of is to share photos or short videos about their lives on it. When most people encounter something exciting in their life, they can't help but want to show their experience. Therefore, they will choose to share this excitement with their relatives and friends on public platforms such as WeChat friends circle or Weibo. In addition, social media users can also view other people's information or content. Some people do this simply because they are curious. Some people do this to learn something they may not know.
