Analysis of Listening Answers of Cambridge IELTS 10 Test1 Section1

Answer to question 1: Ardleigh

Corresponding original text: A-R-D-L-E-l-G-H Road

Answer analysis: there is no difficulty in examining the spelling of letters, and it is basically a question of giving points.

Answer to question 2: newspaper

No, I read about you in the newspaper

Answer analysis: if someone else makes a simple correction, the travel agency will give some suggestions first, and Andrea will give the correct answer after denying. However, it should be noted that at present, there are many questions that are directly agreed by the respondents after the questioner gives suggestions. In other words, the correct answer will not be mentioned again. So even if it is the content of the question, we should pay attention to it.

Answer to question 3: theme

The first one begins in Los Angeles and there's quite of time to visit some of the theme  parks there.

Answer analysis: In IELTS listening, when asked what kind of park, there are generally two kinds of answers: the theme park and the entertainment park.

Answer to question 4: tent

Corresponding original text: I don’t like the idea of staying in a  tent It’d be too hot.

Answer analysis: Some students may take the campsite as the answer. Although it is true in meaning, the content of Section 1 of IELTS Listening is generally subject to what the respondent says.

Answer to question 5: castle

Corresponding original: Someone told me there's a really nice castle  near Cambria

Answer analysis: Castle is also one of the most common tourist attractions in the first two parts of IELTS listening. Since t in the middle of the word is not pronounced, we need to pay more attention to the spelling.

Answer to question 6: beach/beaches

Corresponding original text: That's good for beaches

Answer analysis: This question is a bit confusing. The main reason is that Andrea said "sunbathing" and "swimming" later, and many students will write down the latter "swimming" as an answer. Here, the Old Roast Duck Editor reminds us that, unless a clear juxtaposition relationship is given on the question stem, the juxtaposition words will not generally appear as the answer in IELTS listening.

Answer to question 7: 2020

The first one I told you about is a self drive tour through California which last two days and covers two thousand and twenty  kilometres

Answer analysis: directly examine the number, there is nothing fancy. But after the answer, the recording said 206 and 632. But even if you didn't hear them clearly, they obviously didn't meet the requirement of total distance, which can be easily ruled out.

Answer to question 8: flight

Corresponding original text: The cost is £525 per person.   That includes  accommodation , car rental and a  flight  but no meals.

Answer analysis: Some students may write flat. If so, you need to strengthen your ability to listen and identify sounds. In addition, the flat and the first adjustment belong to a subordinate relationship, and can not be paralleled. It can also be excluded according to this point.

Answer to question 9: 429

Corresponding original text: it’s almost a hundred pounds cheaper.  It’s £ four hundred and twenty-nine  per person, which is a good deal.

Answer analysis: It's still about numbers. There's nothing special about them.

Answer to question 10: diner

Corresponding original text: They aren’t included.  But these hotels offer  dinner  in the price.

Answer analysis: Generally, the question of food is asked in the tourism consulting scene. Whether food is included in the price or what needs attention in diet (in many cases, the answer is vegan).
