Spoken IELTS Part2 Topic Card: Describe a time when you learned from a mistake you have made

Ideas : The following ideas are for reference only. I hope you can write your answers according to your real experience

This oral topic card belongs to the new oral topic of the season, but it also appeared once in 16 years. The difficulty coefficient of this question is moderate. In Old Roast Duck's opinion, we must have made some mistakes along the way from childhood to adulthood, and these mistakes have also promoted our growth. Therefore, the old roast duck might as well suggest that you close your eyes and calm down for a minute after seeing the topic, and recall what mistakes in your life are more memorable. In addition, there is no difference in the size of the mistakes here, as long as everyone can clearly describe the mistakes they have made.

subject

A mistake that I have made was actually choosing the major in my college studies.

One mistake I made was choosing a college major.

It was about two years ago when I finished my Kaogao, which is the College Entrance Exam. I knew right after I took the exam that the ultimate score I got would not be enough to let me choose a good major if I wanted to pick up my target university.

It was about two years ago after I took the college entrance examination. After taking the exam, I immediately felt that my final score could not make me choose a good major in the target university.

My parents were very concerned about me as I was feeling blue since I finished my exam, and wanted to give me a hand. So, they brought me many magazines regarding how to select a correct major and school. But, they didn’t get into the action and let me make the decision.

I was depressed after taking the exam. My parents were worried about me and wanted to help me. They brought me a lot of magazines about how to choose the right major and school. However, they did not interfere in this behavior and let me make my own decision.

Well, you might never know how depressed I was. I had dreamed about going to my ideal university since the first day of my senior high school. You know, this article is from Laokaoya website, regardless of how important they kept emphasizing the choice of a good major was, I ended up applying to the university I had dreamed of studying at and selected a major that I was actually not fond of.

You may not know how depressed I was. I have dreamed of going to my ideal university since my first day of high school. No matter how much my parents emphasized the importance of choosing a major, I still applied to the university I dreamed of studying in and chose a major I didn't really like.

I didn’t regret much until last semester when I felt this major, which was accounting, really boring. I felt how silly I was when I made that mistake of choosing the wrong major. You know, I can’t change it right now as the time and school rules don’t allow me to do so. So, what I could do is to keep a good record of my studies and apply for another one after graduation.

I began to regret the boring accounting major I chose last semester. I think it was really stupid for me to make a mistake and choose the wrong major. Due to time constraints and school regulations, I can't change now. Therefore, what I can do now is to ensure my current academic performance and apply for another major after graduation.
