Spoken IELTS Part2 Topic Card: Describe a volunteer experience you have had

Ideas : The following ideas are for reference only. I hope you can write your answers according to your real experience

This volunteer related question is a new one, which has not appeared in recent years. In the memory of the old roast duck, this question was encountered in the examiner's question set when the old roast duck took the exam seven or eight years ago. Therefore, for the vast majority of roast ducks, it needs to be treated as a new topic. If you have ever done any community activities in school, such as helping others and other public welfare things, you can count as volunteer experience. Coordinators or guides of large and small competitions can also be counted as volunteer experiences. For example, the old Roast Duck Xiaobian once worked as a volunteer for the Olympic Games and the World Horticultural Exposition, which can definitely be called the experience of volunteering. In addition, helping the elderly in the community to do some housework within their power, and the tree planting activities in the annual Tree Planting Day can be described.

A volunteering experience I’ve had is helping my school clean up the dormitories of the new graduates.

One volunteer activity I have experienced is to help the school clean up the dormitories of graduates.

You know, the COVID-19 has been a great hassle for the newly graduated students as they are not allowed to get into their dorms on campus to fetch up everything they have left since the outbreak of the virus. So, my school made a decision to give them a hand by letting just a few volunteers pack up their personal belongings.

The Covid-19 epidemic is a particularly big problem for newly graduated students, because since the outbreak of the virus, they have not been able to return to school to retrieve everything in their dormitories. Therefore, my school decided to let a small number of volunteers go back to school to help them retrieve their personal belongings.

The reason why I engaged in this volunteering activity was that I felt I was the right person to help. You know, my house was pretty close to the campus. This article is from Laokaoya website. So, it wouldn’t take me more than 10 minutes to walk there. Plus, I was kind of bored to death stuck at home and maybe tidying up dorms would be fun!

The reason why I participated in this volunteer activity is that I think I am a suitable candidate. My family lives near the school. So, it took less than ten minutes to walk to school. In addition, I feel bored at home. Maybe it will be more fun to clean up the bedroom!

Well, the real experience turned out to be not that fun, honestly. You know, not only should I do video streaming to my fellow graduates so that they knew what they needed and what they didn’t, but also I got to clean up all the trash, which was no easy job while I was wearing a suffocating mask. But, I ended up having a huge sense of fulfilment, especially when I received recognition on both of my fellows and the school. This will surely become one of the most meaningful experiences in my life.

Well, to be honest, the real experience is not so interesting. I will not only broadcast videos to graduates to let them know what they need and what they don't need, but also clean up all the rubbish. This is not easy, especially after I put on a mask that is hard to breathe. However, in the end, I was full of sense of achievement, especially after receiving the recognition of graduates and schools. This is definitely one of the most meaningful experiences in my life.
