Spoken IELTS Part 1 Analysis of answer to model text: APPs application

APP is the abbreviation of application. Such questions belong to science and technology related issues, and the related topic cards may cover computers, mobile phones, televisions, communications, etc.

What kinds of APPs do you often use?

There are many applications on my mobile phone. These applications are downloaded after I see others using them or pop up in the browser. What I can remember now is some English related to English learning and games. For example, I often use Longman Contemporary English Dictionary, which is an English English dictionary designed by Longman Company.

I’ve got a lot of APPs on my iPhone. Those were downloaded just when I saw someone used it or just because I saw a pop-up on my Safari. What I can remember now are some APPs that are about English learning and gaming. For instance, I usually use the LDOCE 5, which is a very useful English-English dictionary designed by Longman.

What kinds of APPs would you like to have in the future?

I want to have a travel application that can help me find the most economical travel ticket. Now there are only some ordinary travel applications on my iPhone, such as flying pigs, where to go, etc., which are not so convenient and practical. Therefore, I need an application that perfectly meets my requirements and helps me find the most affordable ticket and the cleanest hotel.

I would like to have a traveling APP, which can allow me to find the most cost-effective air tickets for travel. Now, what I have on my iPhone are just some ordinary traveling APPs like Feizhu and Qunar, which are not that useful for me. This article is from laokaoya website. So I really need an APP that perfectly suits my needs for cheaper air tickets and cleaner hotels.

What’s the most popular APP in your country?

I think it must be WeChat, which is a very similar instant messaging application to Whatsapp. Almost everyone around me uses it to communicate. We can send text messages or voice and video messages to anyone we need to contact. Sometimes, WeChat can also be used as a payment method, which completely liberates our wallet. We don't need to talk about money. Simply scan the QR code and everything will be settled.

I think it must be Wechat, which is a Whatsapp like instant messages APP. Nearly everybody around me uses this APP for communication. We can either send text messages or audios to someone we need. Sometimes, it can be used as a payment method that liberated our wallets, we don’t need to spend cash, just a simple scan of our payment OR code, then everything’s set.

What was the first APP you used?

I remember an app called Tom Cat. Its design is very simple, but the app is still very interesting. There is a cat named TOM in it. It can imitate our review, and it can also say some simple words to us like SIRI. This application is only used for leisure and entertainment.

I remember it was an APP called TOM CAT, which is a very simple but funny APP. There is a cat named Tom, which can imitate our own voice and sometimes can even talk to us in simple words like what Siri does. This is an APP that is used just for leisure.

Do old people in your country like to use APPs?

I think they don't like to use mobile applications. They don't even use mobile phones because the words on the screen are too small to see clearly. So they would rather walk in the yard than sit on the sofa and slide the text pages on the screen.

I guess they don’t enjoy that much. They don’t even use smartphones quite often. Because they think the letters on the screen are too small to see. So they would rather have a walk in the yard instead of sitting on the sofa scrolling down the pages of words on the cellphone.
