How to take the IELTS listening test
Students who take the IELTS test for the first time may be curious about the form of the test and hope to know more about it before the test, so as to ease the tension during the test and avoid mistakes in busy times. Today, the old duck editor talked about how to take the IELTS listening test.
IELTS Listening Test Form
There are some differences in the form of IELTS listening test between mainland China and other places. All examination halls in mainland China adopt the form of headphone test (I don't know whether it is Bluetooth or other linking methods). Before the exam begins, the invigilator will distribute earphones to everyone, and then play a piece of audio for earphone audition. If you find any problem with the earphone, please raise your hand and report in time.
Outside the mainland, including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and other places, the IELTS listening test is often conducted in the form of power amplifier. That is, the invigilator will put a CD recorder in front, and then everyone will listen and write together. It is similar to our listening test in junior high school or senior high school. Compared with earphones, the sound effect of this method is certainly worse. But it also has its own advantages. Because you don't need to wear headphones, you can obviously hear when other people start writing, which can narrow the range of answers.
IELTS Listening Test Process
After the earphone audition, the invigilator will distribute answer cards and test papers to guide everyone to fill in personal information. Wait until 9:00 or 8:58 to officially start the exam. It should be noted that there will be an introduction to the exam at the beginning of the listening recording. At this time, it is not allowed to open the paper, otherwise it will be regarded as a violation of discipline. Do not start until you hear Now turn to section 1. The whole listening test will last 40 minutes, including 30 minutes of listening audio. The remaining 10 minutes are used to transcribe the answer sheet. This period of time is still sufficient, so don't panic. Take a break after writing to prepare for the next reading.
