Famous Thangka Painter Nanlaben

Nanlaben is a national inheritor of intangible cultural heritage, a master of arts and crafts in Qinghai Province, a master of arts and crafts in Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, and a standing director of Regong Cultural Association. Born in Tongren County, Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province in 1991, Nanlaben teachers' family began to draw Thangka from their ancestors, and inherited a variety of unique painting techniques and pigment blending techniques. He showed his mysterious talent for Thangka, a unique painting art in Tibetan culture, from childhood. At the age of six, he learned sketches from his grandfather while attending school; When he was seven years old, he went to Wutun to learn the Metrics Sutra from Xia Wu Cailang, the central master of fine arts; When he was ten years old, he formally learned the basic skills of Thangka painting from Master Gazang. At the age of 14, Nanlaben in junior high school began to give up school lessons and concentrate on studying Thangka culture; Until he was 17 years old, he paid tribute to Xia Wuhe, a master of arts and crafts in Qinghai, as his teacher. He followed his master to draw Thangka diligently for the next five years.

Nanlaben has created his own painting after he was approved to graduate, and now has more than 20 apprentices. Over the past decade, depending on family inheritance and his own dedicated research, Nanlaben has hand-painted more than 100 large-scale Thangkas, and some of his Thangkas. More than half of the works have been collected by domestic and foreign enthusiasts at a high price and regarded as treasures. Its painting style is exquisite and smooth, flowers compete for novelty and beauty, animals are arrogant, good gods are dignified and beautiful, and ferocious gods are ferocious and majestic. It not only shows the dignity of gods, mysterious and lofty, but also exudes human breath, distinctive personality, rich expressions, and vivid images. In Nanlaben's view, as an ancient art, Thangka should retain its tradition, but it must break through the tradition to carry forward the Thangka, which is also the consistent proposition of the 10th Panchen Lama. The new combination of ancient and modern painting style makes each piece of work seem to be alive, which often causes people's admiration. The Thangka created by him is exquisite in color, gorgeous in color, smooth in line, vivid in character and exquisite in workmanship, which has high artistic appreciation value and collection value. In particular, the Guangmu Heavenly King, one of the four Heavenly Kings painted in the Sutra Sutra Hall of Kacangma Village, has won unanimous praise from painters all over the country, won praise from painters, gained a great reputation and became an admirer of painters.

In December 2010, it was awarded the title of "Regong Artists' Home" by the Culture, Sports, Radio, Television Bureau of Tongren County, Qinghai Province, Regong Art Association of Tongren County, and Tongren County Government.
