Changjiang Daily Financial Media News on May 12 By the end of 2018, Wuhan had 54400 registered nurses, accounting for 53% of the total number of health technicians in the city. There were 4.91 registered nurses per 1000 permanent residents. The ratio of medical care to nursing care in the city reached 1:1.29, the phenomenon of inverted ratio of medical care to nursing care was completely changed, and the number of nurses continued to expand... May 12, 2019 was the 108th International Nurses' Day. On the 11th, reporters from Changjiang Daily came to some special wards in Wuhan by four routes to feel the busy, worried and happy nurses.

To be a "mind masseur" for children and parents

Han Ruijuan, 36, is a nurse in the pediatric blood ward of Wuhan Union Medical College Hospital. When she is on duty, she takes care of 8-10 children in the daytime and 20-25 children in the night shift. The children here are mainly suffering from leukemia, lymphoma, aplastic anemia and other diseases, which are much more serious than children with colds and fever. Therefore, nurses' daily work in the ward, such as evaluating patients, recording nursing priorities, dispensing and changing dressing, is also more stressful than other wards.

After the shift handover at 8:00 in the morning, Han Ruijuan conducted admission assessment and education for new patients

Tao Tao (not his real name), a 7-year-old boy, was admitted to the pediatric blood ward after he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in December 2018. Because of its weak resistance, it has always lived in the laminar flow bed. It is like a protective isolation "umbrella" with plastic covers around. The air inside can be purified and disinfected, which can reduce the infection rate of children during chemotherapy.

After the official shift handover at 8:00 on the 11th, Han Ruijuan put on a mask, disinfected her hands, and walked to Taotao's bed. When preparing for infusion, Taotao kicked her stomach with her left foot, and her eyes were full of incompatibility. Seeing this, Han Ruijuan leaned over, stroked Taotao's arm and looked at him with a smile: "The child is not afraid. If it hurts, he will hold his father's hand." Then Han Ruijuan turned to Taotao's father beside him and motioned to him to fix the child. "The children's blood vessels are poor and difficult to find. We just hope they don't move around to avoid the second needle puncture." Han Ruijuan's voice is small, but full of tenderness. Soon, Taotao becomes cooperative. Han Ruijuan told the Changjiang Daily that for more than 10 years of working, it has become a common thing to be kicked by children in front of the hospital bed. The children here are young and at an active age. Their compliance is poor, which is understandable.

Han Ruijuan is busy in various wards, and basically walks 20000 steps every day. Children with leukemia often have sudden symptoms such as vomiting, convulsions, hematemesis, abdominal pain, etc. After receiving the call, Han Ruijuan and the nurses always rush to the scene to deal with the condition at the first time.

Mingming (pseudonym), the third stage of chemotherapy, lay in bed all day, and Han Ruijuan took the little child out of bed to exercise

"Is my child hopeless?" As soon as she stepped out of the ward, Han Ruijuan was surrounded by the mother of Dudu (a pseudonym), another patient with emotional breakdown. Han Ruijuan conveniently closed the door of the sick room, patted her on the shoulder, and led her to the corridor for enlightenment. "Every year, many children are discharged from the hospital. After they go out, they are admitted to college, married and have children, and live a healthy and happy life." Han Ruijuan said that in 2018, there were more than 3000 children in and out of the pediatric blood ward. The 5-year disease-free survival rate of children with acute gonorrhea reached 87%. The disease will not recur within 5 years, and the chance of recurrence is very low.

"Temporary mother" protects the life and growth of "pocket baby"

One day at the end of March, at 1 o'clock in the morning, there was a strong wind outside and the temperature was very low. Li Mu, who was on duty at NICU, answered the phone and learned that there was a 30 week premature baby boy (not his real name) outside the hospital. He was a "pocket baby" with a birth weight of less than 1.3 kg. His birth weight was low, and he was blue after birth, groaning, and breathing distress. It was urgent for NICU professional medical staff to turn Baobao'an back to rescue. After learning about the baby, Li Mu knew the risks of this transfer, immediately informed the emergency transfer team, prepared emergency supplies, transfer incubator, and transfer ventilator, and then set out in a hurry. In this bad weather, the temperature is very low, and children will die at any time.

On the way back to pick up the baby, put the baby into the transfer warm box. Li Mu put his hands into the warm box to protect the baby as a meat pad. He did not move and was afraid of being hurt by turbulence. The doctor intubated the baby and connected the transfer ventilator. For 40 minutes, the baby successfully arrived at the neonatal intensive care unit of Wuhan Central Hospital under all-round care. A new life less than the size of a palm is in her hands, struggling to breathe. The baby is very light and life is very heavy, which shocked Li Mu. "I feel a strong vitality, awe inspiring and moving," Li Mu said.

After a sleepless rescue by the medical staff, Tong Tong successfully spent the first night. In the next few days, medical staff took over 24-hour care like "temporary mothers". Respiratory distress, apnea, infection, anemia, feeding intolerance, children frequently appear dangerous situations. After careful care and treatment by NICU team, children have passed the "breath, nutrition and infection". After 37 days, the child's self sucking is powerful, breathing is stable, oxygen saturation is stable, weight gain is satisfactory, and all vital signs are recovered and discharged smoothly. On the day of discharge, Li Mu put his forefinger beside the baby's hand, which was tightly held by the baby's small hand. He was reluctant to loosen it for a long time. Li Mu was reluctant to part, and his eyes were red.

Tian Xiaoqin, head nurse of the newborn department of Wuhan Central Hospital, said that the poor baby left his mother and went to the department when he was born. The medical staff in the department were their "temporary mothers". Even if it is temporary, we should interpret the great role of "mother" well, and love and care every newborn angel with our heart.

At the end of 2018, Tian Tian (a pseudonym), a child scalded by boiling water, was admitted to the burn department of Wuhan Third Hospital. When Tian Tian was born, he was abandoned by his cruel parents due to cerebral palsy and blindness, and has been living in a welfare home. At the age of 5, he looked like a 3-year-old because of stunting and malnutrition.

"Don't let him have New Year's Eve!" In order to make Tian Tian feel the happy festival atmosphere like other children, the head nurse Wu Hongnian bought new clothes for him before. On New Year's Eve, I bathed him, changed into new clothes, and joyfully accompanied him for the New Year. During the Spring Festival, the catering stores were closed and closed. The child had just been cured of gastrointestinal bleeding and could only eat soft food. Everyone cooked delicious food for him at home in a variety of ways. The nurse aunts were gratified to see the baby's small mouth eating sweet food and occasionally showing a sweet smile. They prayed silently in their hearts and wished the child a speedy recovery.

On the afternoon of February 19 this year, Tingting (not her real name), 12, was reading in a charcoal fire basin in her room. Unfortunately, due to carbon monoxide poisoning, she slipped directly from the stool and fell into the fire basin, causing serious burns on her buttocks and perineum. In the evening, Tingting took an ambulance from Enshi and arrived at the Burn Department of the Third Hospital at 8 a.m. the next day. With the full treatment of medical staff, Tingting's condition was effectively controlled.

"Tingting has been silent since she came in, and her parents even cry every day." Wu Hong, head nurse, said that the 26th was Tingting's birthday, and the nurses discussed early to give her a warm birthday in the ward. Everyone pooled money to buy a beautiful birthday cake, a happy birthday song from the hospital bed, and a book full of good wishes written by everyone. Tingting finally showed a rare smile since her admission.

After the child's condition was stable and her spirit slightly improved, the nurses contacted the volunteers from the burn care ward school to give her remedial lessons every day, and set up one-on-one course counseling for her, so that she could not lose her studies while treating burns, and could study hard in the ward.

Last September, Chen Yang (a pseudonym), a post-90s patient, suffered an accident in which his arms and legs were fractured in a car accident. After undergoing surgery in Wuhan Fourth Hospital, he was transferred to the rehabilitation medical department of the hospital for rehabilitation treatment. When Chen Yang just came to the rehabilitation medical department, his whole body was covered with bandages, and he was completely unable to move. After his body and mind were severely injured, his mood was extremely low, and his family was also very anxious. "I once thought that I might no longer be able to walk as freely as others."

Seeing that Chen Yang is unhappy every day and unwilling to communicate with doctors, nurses and therapists, Liu Li, his nurse in charge of the bed, is very anxious. While using her own specialized knowledge to help patients with rehabilitation training, she starts to pay attention to seizing any opportunity to give him psychological counseling, hoping that Chen Yang can get out of the depression as soon as possible.

At first, Chen Yang didn't cooperate, holding the attitude of breaking jars, ignoring Liu Li's careful guidance, and even being somewhat resistant to rehabilitation training. Liu Li insisted on communicating with him face to face every day, encouraging and comforting him. "As long as scientific rehabilitation training is followed, many people can recover, and you should have confidence in yourself!"

More than 200 days have passed. It has become Liu Li's daily job to cheer Chen Yang up and encourage him to stick to it. Every day, she will break down and demonstrate Chen Yang's relevant rehabilitation actions again and again. Liu Li remembers that at most times, one action needs to be repeated more than 50 times until Chen Yang has completely mastered the essentials of the action.

Through the comprehensive muscle strength circulation training system, weight-loss gait training system, balance training system and other system equipment, Chen Yang received systematic rehabilitation training. Gradually, he moved from only moving his fingers at first to being able to lift his feet and sit up to eat alone. Until now, he has been able to get out of bed and walk on crutches on one leg, witnessing his changes, Chen Yang regained his confidence and hope in life, and was deeply moved by Liu Li's help.

Qi Xiuyun, head nurse of the rehabilitation medicine department, said that there are 13 nurses in the department. Because of the particularity of patients in the department, nurses often need to pay more patience and energy. "The purpose of rehabilitation treatment is to improve the quality of life of patients in the future, improve their ability to take care of themselves, and enable them to return to society and family smoothly."
