People's Daily, August 20, Tianjin At about 20:30 on August 19, four people and several sheep in Maguozhuang Village, Dazhongzhuang Town, Baodi District, Tianjin were trapped in the middle of the Ji Canal. The situation was very critical. After receiving the alarm, Baodi District Fire Rescue Detachment made scientific analysis and judgment, and dispatched 5 fire trucks and 28 officers and soldiers to the scene with water rescue equipment.

After the rescue workers arrived at the scene, they learned from the insiders that the river channel is about 1km wide and the deepest water depth is 8m. Four people and their sheep are trapped in an island in the river. The rescue site was rainy and windy, the river was rising, and the current was turbulent. In addition, the visibility was extremely low at night on rainy days, so the rescue workers could only rely on the flashlight light and cries of the trapped people to determine their approximate location. Through telephone communication with the trapped people, the water level in the distress area has reached the waist position, and the situation is very critical.

The Baodi District Government and the District Fire Rescue Department immediately set up a field headquarters to formulate a rescue plan, and the fire rescue department organized forces to rescue the trapped people to the maximum extent. The power department simultaneously cut off the electrical lines near the rescue waters, and the public security organ cleared the irrelevant personnel on the site, opened a rescue site, and maintained the order of the scene. The fire department selected five capable officers and men to take two assault boats as the first assault force, carry life-saving, lighting and other equipment, and adopt the tactics of two boat formation, staggered forward and backward, and alternate cover to break into the river island. At the same time, three officers and soldiers will be dispatched to the downstream area to be ready to deal with emergencies.

Due to the complicated underwater conditions at the rescue site, the current is turbulent, and there is a danger of wrapping the motor with a large number of sundries, the commandos adopted the paddle method to overcome the difficulties of water impact and the risk of undercurrent dragging, and advanced to the trapped people. After arriving at the site, four trapped people were found through careful search. Due to long-term immersion and water impact, their physical energy consumption was high. The commanders and fighters immediately rescued the four trapped people and dressed them with professional life-saving equipment to prevent them from being swept into the water by torrents. One of the trapped people was very excited and refused to board the ship because he was worried about the trapped sheep. After repeated persuasion by the rescue workers, he agreed to board the ship. At 23:06, all the trapped people were successfully rescued. After nearly two hours of intense fighting, all officers and men of Baodi Detachment successfully completed the water rescue task.
